Remember Terri Schindler Schiavo, 2 years later.

Terri Schindler Schiavo b Dec 3, 1963 d March 31, 2005
Timeline
Only pointing to one article this year.... It begins:

Schindler's List is a list of Jews that Oscar Schindler saved from death at the hands of the Nazis.

Greer's list is a list of those persons that Florida Circuit Court Judge George Greer has sentenced to death by starvation.

Schindler's list is lengthy, but not nearly long enough.

Six million Jews were executed because they supposedly polluted the body politic and were not entitled to live.

Because Adolf Hitler did not respect God or life.

Greer's list is short.

There is only one name on it: Terry Schiavo, nee Schindler.

It is too long.

And ironic.

St Maximillian Kolbe, pray for us.

Cardinal von Galen, pray for us all.

One of the last portraits of von Galen before his death, on 22 March 1946

Terri Schindler Schiavo, pray for us all.

Michael J Gaynor included the words of Martin Niemoller in his article before Terri's death:

"In Germany, they first came for the communists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a communist.
Then they came for the Jews and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the Catholics. I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak up." ~~Reverend Martin Niemoller

Childhood Heroine in the News

And then again.... occasionally things come up in the news that show up even when you don't look for them. Sometimes, those 'things' bring back fond memories....

I signed off of a yahoo page, and for some reason, instead of going to the normal page it goes to when I log off (return to yahoo groups or return to yahoo mail... if you use either, you know the pages...) , it went on its own to yahoo.com where the top story showing was about one of my childhood heroines. I still wonder about her, and follow stories about her.

Somewhere in the last few years of elementary school, I discovered Biographies at the library. It was after we were allowed to be in the Adult section. I read many of them, but some, like Harriet Tubman, Florence Nightingale, and Amelia Earhart stayed with me. So when I saw Amelia's name, I followed the link almost automatically.

From there, I also went to Tighar's website and after reading and scrolling down the page, I found a couple more pages that kept me reading for quite awhile. I really do hope that they find some evidence when they return in July, and can finally put to rest what really happened to her and to her navigator. There is so much at that site!

There is actual video of the last take-off! I watched that quite a few times, and did catch the tiny puff of smoke that the author speaks of.
Lae, New Guinea – July 2, 1937 – Be there.
Actual film of Amelia Earhart’s final takeoff.

There is so much at that site! I'll be there off and on for a LONG TIME reading the forum archives and documents just on the Earhart Project!

God is good..... grin...

God bless!

Wonderful are His Ways....

Sometimes, things happen that are not always explainable.

Today, at Mom's, whatever we were talking about, came around to my sharing with her a little about what it must be like to be in SEGREGATION ('the hole') in prison... we had been talking about something, and she'd asked me some questions about certain a family member. This led to (and really do not ask me how, as I cannot recall exactly how this conversation went... only that it got here, somehow.....) talking about denial of the Eucharist and Mass while in 'the hole'.... think it came up because SHE has finally been able to receive Communion from her sister. Her sister just found out that she could take Communion to Mom when she goes to Mass. Mom was thrilled about it!

Anyway, I told Mom about Joan Andrew Bell, who spent over two years in prison, in SEG, because she could not cooperate with evil, and society's laws that allow evil to continue. We talked a little bit about what Joan Andrews Bell did to end up in prison, and I was telling her about the quote that I had found awhile back. That quote, I told her, is easily converted to MY situation.

I got online and found the quote in my saved favorite quotations, and read it to her. She was more impressed with the fact that the Prison would dare to deny someone access to a priest, Confession, Communion, the Sacraments, etc simply because they were in SEG for not cooperating in anyway with her arrest, imprisonment, sentence.... etc. She thought that was terrible. (Just so that you know, I agree with her, even though I now understand how prison security and SEG works. It is STILL terrible....)

Getting back to the rest of the story.....

I am looking at sitemeter, and there was a visitor who came from here to this page. And there on that page... is the link to my piece on Joan Andrew Bell.... When I had read her quote to Mom today, I also told her how simple it was to change her words to my own 'stand' against the evil of forced, no fault, unilateral divorce.

God works in strange ways, His wonders to perform....

God bless!

God bless!

"Wendy", Can you Hear Me?

What is one to do when one has ordered something from an online 'Catholic apostolate' that says it will take up to three weeks to send it out, does so, but when the package gets to you, there is only ONE of the objects that you ordered in it, not the six that you have ALREADY paid for? That they already HAVE the money for, taken out of your account almost as soon as it was ordered?

When you have sent not only ONE, but many emails TO this 'Catholic apostalate', and have gotten only TWO in response, NEITHER telling you what they intend to do about your order, with no offer to replace the missing items or to refund your money???

My order was placed on Feb 16, 2007. It came on March 9, and I wrote immediately. I sent two emails, one apologizing for leaving the subject line blank. I showed 'Wendy' that I had made TWO purchases recently, one for almost $33 on 2/9/2007, and this one for nearly $72 on 2/26/2007. The first had come. The second was disappointing, as it was NOT correct.

She answered both, one saying she would look into it, the second saying that they had mailed out the six, was the package intact, and the cost of the shipping. She sounded like she was saying I was accusing her, so I sent back another stating that was not the case, but that I WAS disappointed that the order was not correct. I told her I had not noticed that there was a stamp on the envelope saying that it had arrived in my town damaged, and that it had opened very easily. I described the look of the package/envelope.

She has NOT responded since then! I wrote again on Mar 16, saying I was still waiting to hear what she was going to do about my order. And I sent a third saying I had still not heard from her, on the ORIGINAL email with the copy of the two orders, giving the length of time I have been waiting for a response.

It is now getting more than frustrating. The courtesy of a response, even stating that she won't act until the Post Office tracks the package, ANYTHING, has not been afforded me. I am at a loss. She already HAS my money. 'Stopping payment' is therefore not much of an option, and even if I chose that route, it would cost ME money to do so!

Am I to be penalized for a package that did not make it through the mail intact??? Am I 'out' of the items ordered AND my money due to something that is the fault of the packer OR the Post Office, or ... both?

What is a person to do when this provider calls themselves a Catholic Apostolate, and yet STILL sends more emails with 'offers' when they have not yet taken care of a problem? Three or more such emails with 'offers', etc, have come in the time I am waiting for a personal response telling me what is going to be done about my Feb 16th order. That is almost insulting, IMHO. Most certainly, it is disingenuous; it is crossing a line of respect.

Write, offering ways for me to spend or donate more money, when there has been no resolution to a current problem.... ONE of the emails even being mailed with an implication that it is for a select group of people.

I am considering a letter to both the Bishop of their Diocese and the BBB. But I am not certain that is something that I want to do. Had I even gotten an email staing that she has not yet heard from the Post Office, that she was sorry this happened... anything... I would not be feeling this way.

But when they call themselves a Catholic Apostolate and then ignore a customer who has spent over $100 in a week's time on products that never arrived.... it is NOT a good business action, NOR a good Christian action.

If I do not get some resolution soon, I will write more, and I will be naming the Apostolate here on my blog.

God bless!

ADDENDUM April 2, 2007:

Today, I received a response that the missing portion of my order is on the way. Yesterday, I received two emails from a family member saying that he would personally hand the email to the one I had been trying to correspond with, and he said that he was sorry this had happened. Today's email simply said "Remaining (merchandise) on the way. God bless."

That was all that I wanted to know, and now I await their arrival.

God bless.

Divorce Not Easy in NY...for now?

No fault divorce is not the answer. It is hell on earth.
It is forced, unilateral and a denial of due process for the Respondent. It is, according to a retired Judge, unconstitutional.

God bless!

Divorce Is Not Easy in NY

NEW YORK (AP) -- In New York, you can get just about anything, except a no-fault divorce.
New York is the only state in the nation that won't allow the speedy dissolution of a marriage without proof that one spouse is at fault, experts say.

Adultery counts, but irreconcilabledifferences don't. "He beats me" (with proof) works, but "We grew apart" doesn't cut it.

New York's divorce system has been ridiculed as hopelessly outdated, and sometimes results in endless litigation and couples leaving the state to evade the law. Some couple engage in no-holds-barred fights like the one between a Brooklyn couple, Chana and Simon Taub. A jury this week denied the couple a divorce, escalating the feud.
Divorce lawyer Bernard Clair said New York's system is antiquated because divorce today is really about dividing an economic partnership.

Several prominent groups and officials are in favor of a no-fault divorce law, including the state's chief judge, Judith Kaye. The New York City bar also supports a no-fault law. But for now there's no sign a change of the law.

((VIDEO  message)) <http://viditalk.com/hli/2/>

Dear  Colleagues,

As you know, the  response to the Sean Hannity interview of March 9th was overwhelmingly  positive in defense of the Church's teaching and the right/duty of a  priest to defend it in public. To address the misconceptions of the  cultural mindset of easy acceptance of contraception, I have created a  mini-series on contraception to inject some basic common sense insight  into the subject and create a modern tool for evangelization. There will  be several more mini-catecheses after Easter so stay tuned!

Please click on the  video icon, and then forward it on to someone else who may be in need of  catechesis on the subject. Know of our prayers for you and your  families.

Gratefully,

Rev. Thomas J.  Euteneuer

Mass For Anyone Touched By Adoption in Lackawanna, NY

I wish that I lived closer, and could make it to this special Mass. It is being held on a weekend that is special to me to begin with (Friday).

But having been touched by Adoption (yesterday...no, but it seems like it was just yesterday.... ) in 1975, again in 1978, and many times since then, including reunion beginning about six years ago, it would be really a special Mass to me.

If you read this, and you get to go, please find your way back and share the homily, the readings, the reception later.........anything.

An adoptive Mom of two, one in reunion, one waiting for over three years, and a birth Mom to my third child, Grandma to four...

God bless!!

Dan Maquire of Marquette University

Dan Maquire is a former priest, laicized in 1971, in order to marry Marjorie. He divorced her in 1991, to marry another. Marjorie apparently goes to some of his lectures and gets to the microphone, where she publically calls him an "Adulterer", and other names... so he tried to get an injunction against her, and silence her.

I'd like to shake the Judge's hand, because instead of an injunction, apparently he got rebuffed.

See pg 10 Millstone Award of that pdf file. HLI 'honored' him with this 'Millstone award'. I wish it were possible to insert the article here, because it is important to understand the ramifications of the damage this man has done to the Faith since he stood with Charles Curran and voiced his dissent of Humanae Vitae in 1968. Think of the sheer NUMBER of students he has had over the years, and how many each of THEM has affected!!

Add that to the number that Curran affected even before that day at Catholic University...and all of the others who were with them. Much of what he teaches, espouses is heresy.

And people want to 'blame' Vatican II for the trouble the Church is in? For the dissident legislators (like Kennedy, like Kerry, like Obey, and the others who call themselves Catholic...as well as those like Guilianni..)
For those who have NOT been properly taught the Catholic Faith for the past couple of generations....

These men were teaching and affecting people BEFORE Vatican II took place.

I do not understand how a Catholic school can continue to call itself Catholic and have professors like this teaching anything related to the Faith.

May God have Mercy.

US bishops denounce works by pro-abortion theologian
Washington, Mar. 23, 2007 (CWNews.com)

Washington, Mar. 23 (CWNews.com) - The US bishops have announced that two pamphlets circulated by a Marquette University theologian represent “false teaching” which cannot be reconciled with Catholic doctrine.

In a statement released on March 22, and approved by the administratative board of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), the bishops’ doctrinal committee said that the works by Daniel Maguire “do not present Catholic teaching.”

The doctrinal committee, chaired by Bishop William Lori of Bridgeport, Connecticut, addressed two pamphlets circulated last year by Maguire, covering the issues of contraception, abortion, and same-sex marriage. The USCCB concluded that Maguire’s views on those topics, and his understanding of Church teaching authority, “cross the legitimate lines of theological reflection and simply enter into the area of false teaching.”

In the pamphlets, Maguire had argued that “the Roman Catholic position on abortion is pluralistic,” claiming that some Catholics have always endorsed the “pro-choice” stance. He writes that on abortion-- and on other issues such as contraception and same-sex marriage-- there are two opposing Catholic views. “Neither is official,” he says, “and neither is more Catholic than the other.”

The US bishops flatly reject that claim. “While there may be individuals who disagree with the teaching of the Church,” the USCCB statement observes, “such divergent views cannot be considered authentic Catholic teaching or the basis for reliable guidance regarding faithful Catholic moral life.” The bishops encourage reference to the Catechism of the Catholic Church for “correct and authentic teaching.”

Informed about the USCCB statement, Maguire did not budge from his position, saying that the bishops themselves are wrong. “They’re simply uninformed,” he told the New York Times, insisting that there are many different Catholic positions on controversial issues. Daniel Maguire, a former priest who has long been an active proponent of legal abortion and supporter of “Catholics for a Free Choice,” teaches moral theology at Marquette, a Jesuit-run university in Milwaukee, Wisconson. The USCCB statement noted that Milwaukee’s Archbishop Timothy Dolan “has made public statements affirming that the views expressed by Professor Maguire in his two pamphlets are erroneous and incompatible with the Church's teaching.”

Fr. Euteneuer Calls for Firing of ‘False Teacher,’ Applauds Bishops

Below is a Statement from Father Tom Euteneuer, STL, of Human Life International on the Doctrine Committee of the USCCB’ statement on the false teachings of Professor Dan Maguire of Marquette University.

The committee’s statement may be found here:

Father Euteneuer and I appreciate all that you do.

Fr. Euteneuer Calls for Firing

of ‘False Teacher,’ Applauds Bishops

FRONT ROYAL, VA — The Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer, STL, president of Human Life International, (HLI) said today, “Catholic parents should shudder at the thought of Dan Maguire teaching theology to their children at a Catholic University. I call upon Marquette to stop hiding behind false ideas of tenure and ‘academic freedom’ in the face of theological malfeasance and dismiss Dan Maguire. A Catholic university should be Catholic and not tolerate false teachers like Maguire.”

Father Euteneuer applauded the Doctrine Committee of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops for their clear and ringing rebuke of dissident Professor Daniel Maguire of the theology department of Marquette University in Milwaukee. The bishops declared formally that Maguire’s ideas on contraception, abortion and same-sex marriage were totally inconsistent with the Catholic Faith. He is not a Catholic if he teaches false doctrine.

“I am very heartened that the bishops of the committee finally addressed an erroneous model of moral theology that dissenting theologians have used for decades to mislead the faithful” Father Euteneuer said.

This idea wrongly states that the opinions of theologians are somehow co-equal with the Magisterium—the teaching authority of the Church which Christ Himself established.

“High profile Catholics who dissent on clearly-defined teachings,” Father Euteneuer said, “have no doubt been influenced by the kind of nonsense that Maguire and his friends have been propagating for decades; namely that certain crucial moral teachings of the Church are ‘optional’ when they are not.”

Last Fall Human Life International, in its quarterly publication FrontLines awarded Maguire, an ex-priest who is divorced and remarried, its “Millstone Award” for his extreme advocacy of abortion, contraception and “same-sex marriage.” The award’s title refers to the fate of those who mislead the innocent as spoken by Jesus in Matthew 18:6.

Exodus

Tonight, I watched "EXODUS".

Tonight, I wish all of those who don't believe that Islamofascists are our enemies, and that Iran's President means what he says...would watch Exodus, also, and HEAR about the Grand Mufti.

Tonight, I watched "EXODUS". I hummed the Theme right along with the movie score, for it is a part of me.

Tonight, I felt fear. I thought of our Senate and Congress and the vote that they just took to pass a law that tells our enemies exactly when we will leave Iraq, and when they have our consent to move in just as the North Vietnamese moved in as we left Vietnam. Just as the Arabs were lining up around the borders of the new nation of Israel in preparation of taking over as the British left on May 15, 1948, leaving the new nation without weapons to defend themselves.

Tonight, I sense that same enemy waiting and watching for our appeasers to make their next appeasement as I hear the UN once more place sanctions on Iran...and I wonder... Iraq would not have happened had the UN followed through on any of the 'promises' that the UN made to punish Saddam Hussein instead of just letting each step go and passing another 'sanction'....

Tonight, I wonder how long it will take before Israel is again attacked...and along with Israel, the USA.

Tonight as I watched that movie once again, my prayer is for God to raise up men and women who will stand up to the followers of the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, who was himself a follower of Nazi's Hitler, and a distant but much revered distant relative of Arafat (who spoke peace, but never once intended peace with Israel).

Tonight, I wonder how many times we have to relive history before we finally learn it.

God bless!
