Laura Ingraham on Greta and The World Over (New book: Power to the People)

I watched Greta Van Susteren's On the Record yesterday, and Laura Ingraham was a guest. She was also on The World Over on EWTN, but I just HAPPENED to catch part of that one, so will be recording the program when it next airs on EWTN.

She is talking about her new book, POWER TO THE PEOPLE on both.

On Greta's program, On The Record, she also spoke about the interview Greta had done with Joe Francis, the guy that does/started/made millions from those terrible 'Girls Gone Wild' videos where they 'get the signed consent' of young girls on spring vacations to tape them baring their breasts, etc. (He is in jail... ends up crying about the unfairness, etc for doing nothing wrong... and terrible treatment he had to go through in the other jail he was in, etc).

Now, disclaimer here... during the interview on Greta's show, they have clips of his videos (they are 'privacy screened' with the body parts blurred out), so if you don't want to SEE them, then put a browser up over the video and just listen to what Laura has to say about the hypersexualization (and HIS part of it) in today's society. She is 100% right, as far as I am concerned, and I can't say that I agree that his work should be covered under 'First Amendment'...

Then, on EWTN, the program is scheduled to air on Sunday at 3:00 PM Central, I think.

Laura is a convert to Catholicism from about 8 yrs ago (?). She is conservative, and I like her. She is worth hearing. (And I am going to get her new book... which made #1

RUSH RAVES ABOUT 'POWER TO THE PEOPLE': Listen to Rush's monologue on Laura's book here. He gives it a mega-thumbs up.

What are we doing to Our CHILDREN??

I am outraged.

What are we doing to our children?

We require signed consent of parent to have the ear lobes pierced of a girl OR boy under age 18.

We require signed parental consent of a parent to TREAT a child under the age of 18 in any medical facility, but in an emergency, try VERY hard to get telephone/verbal consent. We require the same for any surgical procedure, including tonsillectomy, appendectomy, TOOTH EXTRACTION, (any dental work, INCLUDING FLUORIDE TREATMENT and PROPHY -- 'cleaning' -- and Sealants!)

Schools will not give a child a Tylenol for a headache without parental consent! They won't give ANY medication without parental consent... AND they often additionally require a written Dr's statement that it is NEEDED before the school nurse will give it!

We suspend a child for giving a classmate TYLENOL (AND the one who had the headache!), because there is a 'no drug' policy in the school.....

Pat Baum, a school nurse in Columbus, said such a strict policy also protected children against inadvertently taking a medication to which they might be allergic.

"It sounds on the surface like this is a real crazy, picky thing to do," Ms. Baum said. "But you don't know if the child's going to be allergic." Acceptance and a Fight

Wilson officials suspended the girls, Dana Merry and Michelle Wines, for five days last week and said they could have been expelled.

Somewhere along the way, we begin to put condoms in school bathrooms.

THEN we begin to get more ridiculous....we pass laws that tell us that for an ABORTION (NOTE WELL - - A SURGICAL PROCEDURE!!!!) a child under the age of 18 does NOT need parental notification. Furthermore, if a girl shows up in an abortuary who is under the so-called 'age of consent', not only do they NOT need parental consent, the fact that a CHILD IS PREGNANT under the age of consent is ALSO not reported ...

Funny, but if I suspect abuse of any kind, I am REQUIRED/MANDATED to report it as a health professional , BY LAW.
( read about P A N D A  for dental professionals ) NOTE those in the list on the first link that are MANDATED to report suspected child abuse ... ).

Yet, if I work in an abortuary, not only do I NOT need parental consent of an 11 yr old, 14 yr old, 16 yr old... I also do not need to report SEXUAL ABUSE of a MINOR if that child is under the legal age of consent for ANY sex???

And NOW, in Maine, the schools, which CANNOT give TYLENOL without my consent, CAN GIVE MY DAUGHTER BIRTH CONTROL without my KNOWLEDGE? As young as 11???? And in any area dealing with sex...'there are kids who may not be able to talk to their parents' becomes the mantra.............

WHAT ARE WE DOING TO OUR CHILDREN???

I was not diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome until I was in my twenties, and we were having trouble getting pregnant. When I was a bit younger, I had gone to an OB/GYN due to having irregular periods, and instead of DIAGNOSING me, the MD put me on the PILL to 'REGULATE YOU'... one problem. The PILL made already dormant ovaries MORE dormant, and ADDED to the problem. There is a school of thought out there that artificial hormones need to be avoided by anyone with PCOS.

There is not one medical person able to know that a child may have this or any other reason to stay away from artificial birth control. At the ages these school people may give a young girl the Pill, even a parent may not know of any health reason she should not be on it!

Morally, ethically, legally, it is WRONG for a child that age to have sex, much less be ON THE PILL (as far as I am concerned, it is the same for  Gardasil ). We put people in prison for having sex with kids that young! We label them as sex -offenders, pedophiles. We set up 'stings' via the Internet to catch those who are soliciting sex from children online, and we arrest for child pornography!! We have children kidnapped, raped, murdered by predators.

TEEN-aged boys who happen to be Seniors, dating Sophomores have been caught in that sexual predator trap when they happen to be 18, and the girl happens to be 15!

And NOW WE ARE GOING TO PROVIDE BIRTH CONTROL FOR JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS???

I am outraged as I listen to the explanations and the justifications for this decision! I am outraged as I hear that it won't be very many students... ONE is too many! I am outraged when I hear that parents have to 'opt out' of student health care in order to KNOW that their child will not be given chemicals  without their PERMISSION at the tender ages of 11-14 yrs of age!

WHAT ARE WE DOING TO OUR CHILDREN????

Update on Leah -- " Answered Prayers " says Mother, Tara

From Grace M comes THIS update on Baby Leah.... it is benign! Though she has a road to travel ahead of her, this is good news.
Please continue to pray, and I will continue to update as they send the information!

God bless!

Dear Friends,

I cannot thank you all enough for the prayers you have sent our way. From my understanding,
on one prayer chain alone, Leah's name reached some churches in Minnesota. You all have been absolutely amazing,
and I know that I could not have made it through this without your encouraging words of support and
your constant prayers. There were times that I was feeling really overwhelmed,
and I would get an email that would help me keep things in perspective -- and some of these emails
came from people I haven't even met! As one of you wrote to me this morning,
God doesn't give you more than you can handle, and it proves true in this case.

Leah has what they are calling a Giant Cell Granuloma -- it a benign growth, and it is not even a tumor.
It is inflammoratory (sp?) tissue that has gone a little crazy. As far as treatment is concerned,
they are looking at some possibilities of drugs to give her that will help stop the growth
(I must admit I wasn't very happy with the drug options - one is a strong chemotherapy drug,
so we will need to discuss that further before I'm willing to proceed). Ultimately, surgery will be in her future.
They want to stop the growth of the cells, give Leah a chance to grow bigger, and then have the surgery
(so it is not as dangerous). The surgeon was very optimistic with the diagnosis, surgery, and outcome.
There are of course some risks, and we are hoping that everyone will continue to pray for her
over the next couple of weeks. When we know the surgery date (and it could be months away),
I would like to contact everyone again, so we can continue the prayer chains,
so she can fully recovery without any complications.

As far as her diagnosis, the doctor did share with me that it is extremely rare,
and there are no known cases of this ever happening to a baby this young.
I believe Miss Leah will become famous in the medical books before she even turns ONE!

Words cannot express my gratitude to everyone for their prayers, so a simple thank you will have to do.
Prayers do help.

God Bless,
Tara

Wife of Irish Anglican bishop converts to Catholicism

Wife of Irish Anglican bishop converts to Catholicism

Dublin, October 18 (CNA).-The wife of a Church of Ireland bishop has converted to Roman Catholicism, the Associated Press reports.

Anita Henderson formally converted Sunday in the private chapel of Catholic Bishop John Fleming in Ballina, County Mayo in the west of Ireland.  Her husband, Church of Ireland Bishop Richard Henderson, and their three children, were present for the ceremony.

The two bishops issued a joint statement, saying "Her decision, made after much heart-searching, deserves the respect of us all and we trust that all people of goodwill will share in this."  They continued:  "This is a time of unprecedented hospitality, friendship and collaboration between our local churches. ...We believe that such genuine and honest searching is a positive indicator in these times - and will not go unrewarded by the God we all strive to love and serve."

"This is the culmination of a long journey of spiritual searching," Mrs. Henderson said in a statement. "I feel under God that is what I am being called to do."

Mrs. Henderson, whose father is also a Church of Ireland minister, has been involved in ecumenical cooperation in Ireland.  She has attended Catholic retreats at a County Sligo community of American monks and nuns, and the couple's three children all have attended a Catholic convent school.

Archbishop Alan Harper, head of the Anglican-affiliated Church of Ireland, affirmed the importance of religious liberty.  He also called for prayers for the couple.  "She has made what was for her and her husband a particularly difficult decision and a particularly difficult move. We must now pray that they are sustained in their integrity and continuing ministry. ...There are some awkwardnesses," he said.

Subject: [Catholic Fire] An Invitation to Readers: Answer the Atheist

I recently received an email from Tim W., a self-proclaimed atheist. I occasionally receive letters from those who attack Christianity, particularly Catholicism and just delete them and pray for these poor souls, who are loved intensely by their Creator, but deny His existence. Tim commented to my recent post "Golden Compass: Agenda Unmasked": Catholic League's Response to Pullman's Ploy in which I share the following information: Atheist author Philip Pullman's bestselling novels for children were written specifically to indoctrinate children with atheistic values. Now New Line Cinema is using Pullman's novels to create a controversial new fantasy film, The Golden Compass.

MORE

Here is his comment:

Why is it alright for C.S. Lewis to attempt to indoctrinate children into his beliefs but not for Pullman to do the same? Quite frankly, there are many that find Catholic sensibilities far more offensive than atheistic ones. I have two small children. They have never had any religious teaching, yet are kind and caring, not because of religious indoctrination, but by following the lead of their parents; two atheists who act far better towards other people than many religious people do. In the end, it's not how religious one is, or how well indoctrinated, but how well one acts towards others. By the way, if you end up posting this message, I will be truly impressed. One of the central themes of the Golden Compass, I gather, is the effort of the Magestirium to silence dissenting views. It would be incredibly ironic if you attempted to silence mine.

WHAT IS YOUR RESPONSE TO TIM?

Disabled Veteran Becomes Leading Activist Against Abortion, Euthanasia

I agree with every single word that he has spoken... bold and underlined by this writer.  More about him can be found here , and here ,
here , and here.

HT to Nancy Valko, RN for sending the article.

Disabled Veteran Becomes Leading Activist Against Abortion, Euthanasia
Columbia, SC (LifeNews.com) --
South Carolina resident Wayne Cockfield says his wheelchair gives him an advantage when it comes to lobbying. That's because he thinks it's difficult for a legislator or a UN official to look him in the face and say he can't have a good quality of life because he is disabled. Cockfield, 58, lost both his legs in 1969 while on a river patrol during the Vietnam War. Just as he landed his rubber raft, a huge explosion blew him at least 20 feet into the air. "It was a miracle that I didn't die," he said. "I was literally even with the top of a tree. One second I was on the ground, next second I was looking at the top of a tree." Some 27 operations and decades later, Cockfield is now a lobbyist for the pro-life movement as he has served as a non-governmental organization representative to the United Nations for the National Right to Life Committee. He's worried that doctors are increasingly deciding for themselves what lives are worth value and should be treated. "You literally have a values test for your worth now," Cockfield told the Midland Daily News. "There is a mindset in this country now that, if you cannot function to a certain level, you're not human." He told the newspaper, "My goal in life is ... to do every single thing that is within my power to convince people that if we continue to kill the unwanted, then the future in this country is going to be hell, a living hell."

Fr. Euteneuer Applauds Bishop McManus for Defense of Church

FRONT ROYAL, VA — The Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer, STL, president of Human Life International, (HLI) today thanked Bishop Robert J. McManus of Worcester, Mass. for his strong stand over Holy Cross College renting space for a conference sponsored by the Massachusetts Alliance on Teen Pregnancy featuring workshops presented by members of Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts.

Father Euteneuer said, "In a time when far too many scandals go unaddressed in our Catholic institutions it is very encouraging to see a bishop take a bold stand in defense of his people and the integrity of the Church."

Bishop McManus, saying he received numerous complaints about the upcoming conference, issued a statement on his diocesan website saying, "As Bishop of Worcester, it is my pastoral and canonical responsibility to determine what institutions can properly call themselves 'Catholic.' … The moral teaching of the Catholic Church on respect for life at all stages of its development is manifestly clear.  Life is a fundamental good that must be protected and respected from the moment of fertilization to natural death."

The bishop continued, "Both Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice are notorious for their policies and practices that directly reject the Church's teaching on artificial contraception and abortion. The College of the Holy Cross should recognize that any association with these groups can create the situation of offering scandal understood in its proper theological sense, i.e., an attitude or behavior which leads another to do evil."

The Bishop expressed his wish that "the college can continue to be recognized as a Catholic institution committed to promoting the moral teaching of the Roman Catholic Church."

Father Euteneuer said, "We can expect assaults on human life, Catholic faith and teaching to increase, especially as the national elections approach. I thank God and take courage from the stand taken by Bishop McManus, who heard the cry of his people. Thank you, Bishop McManus."

Update on Leah

This is the latest on Leah...

On 10/15/07, Grace M wrote:
This is the latest from Tara (Leah's Mom) -

I want to thank everyone for all of their emails and prayers. I honestly don't think we could have made it this far without them. As far as an update for Leah, last week we spent about 5 hours on Wednesday at the Nelson Clinic (pediatric oncology) at MCV where we met with an entire team of doctors in hopes of getting closer to a diagnosis.

On Thursday we went to the Children's Hospital in Norfolk to meet with a top doctor for a second opinion (or really ANY opinion) to determine the diagnosis and treatment for Leah. Before we knew it, we were surrounded by doctors and we were swept into a whirlwind. Leah underwent a very minor surgery/procedure where they did a deep tissue biopsy and then she was transported up to radiology where they did an MRI.

We were then admitted into the hospital where they kept her overnight for observation. On Friday we met with a neurosurgeon, and we very nervously awaited for the results from pathology. We were not home until dinner time Friday night -- it has been a very long week. In one week, Leah has seen 8 doctors, undergone 1 cat scan, 1 MRI, and 3 biopsies - 4 pathology reports have been run, and we have nothing conclusive that I can really share.

The only thing we do know is that it is a bony lesion (coming from the temporal bones/mastoid area), it has not penetrated the brain (thank GOD), and that it appears to be benign. The final pathology report has been shipped to Massachussetts where another pathologist/team of doctors will be looking at it in order to finally decide exactly what it is. This means that all the information I shared with you above could all change -- all I know is that we really don't know anything.

The game plan for next week is: Monday we head back to Norfolk for another MRI, on Tuesday we get a final pathology report, and then Tuesday afternoon we meet with doctors to determine when we will start treatment or have surgery. If it is okay with everyone, I will email you again to let you know when Leah's surgery is because I would feel much better knowing that the prayer warriors, prayer chains, churches, and individuals are praying for her throughout the surgery day and her recovery days. I would also appreciate prayers that this pathology report comes back with a very treatable diagnosis. Throughout this past week, there were moments that I was so paralyzed with fear that I couldn't even think of the words to pray, and it was reassuring to know that others were doing the praying for me.

Thanks again for the phone calls. I'm sorry I haven't really been answering them. Right now we are trying to spend as much time with Seth as humanly possible before we have to leave again next week. I've also been spending a lot of time on the phone with doctors, nurses, etc. As soon as I can, I will return phone calls.

Thank you for your prayers, love, support, and any healing thoughts you can send Leah's way. Thankfully, she is doing much better than we are. She smiles now, and she has all the doctors falling in love with her. When one doctor examined her, she lifted one eyebrow and gave him the once over -- if she can master that look before middle school, she will have all the boys in line!

Love,
Tara

Fr. Capodanno's Brother Remembers

I neglected this year to honor Fr Vincent Capodanno as I have in the past.

I thought about him on Sept. 4th, and thought about writing something, but then got into doing something else. In the end, the date passed.

Today, I was looking at other things and found a note for me that there was a new video about him. It is an interview with his surviving brother. He said that he still misses his brother after forty years.

It is worth the six minutes plus to watch this emotional video.

Fr Vincent Capodanno is the subject of a book by another military chaplain, Fr Dan Mode, The Grunt Padre. He died Sept 4, 1967 while ministering in the field to the men he served, having sustained his own third injury of the day, with 26 shots up and down his back as he was with another injured man. He is the Recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor, awarded posthumously.

Dylan in Need of Prayer!

Dylan with Baby Hope (his cousin, Leann's daughter)

Dylan is in need of serious and urgent prayer!
Bacterial infection in the blood can be very life-threatening.

Mandy and Geoff are Dylan's parents (he also has two big sisters). Leann is his Aunt.

This came from Em (my friend) today:

Subject: prayer

Good morning,

I just wanted to send out another prayer request for Dylan. After spending the last week in KMC fighting a bacterial infection he contracted a second bacteria in his blood. He was transported to UCLA yesterday and this morning he will undergo a surgery to remove his porta-cath. All treatment of his cancer will now stop until both bacteria are gone from his system. He is doing well and staying strong, but doctors say this is very serious and that it is just one day at a time. Please lift him up along with Mandy and Geoff, who are having a very hard time right now.

Thank you so much,
Leann
