He Never Promised us a Rose Garden....

Sometimes I catch bits and pieces of programs on the radio when I am either on my way home or to work. I listen to various talk programs, depending on the shift and time of day/night I am driving.

The other day, Sally Robb of Relevant Radios' Morning Air program was doing one of her 'reflections' online. I did not catch the entire reflection, and really do wish that Relevant Radio had a way to let us listen to programs online later in the day, not just what is on the radio 'live' at the moment... (they do repeat the main programs later, but if one is working, one cannot listen ..)

Sally was speaking of an unhappy marital situation due to the husband's 'distance', and the advice of others about how the woman in the story deserved to be happy, to be fulfilled, etc. We have all heard the advice given, I am sure. Perhaps, at some time, we gave the same advice ourselves....

Sally ended the segment with a statement that I really wish I could quote directly...
She said that instead of the advice the woman was getting that would get rid of the problem and allow her to be 'fulfilled', 'happy', etc... what she really needed was someone to advise her to do what was ... right.

Amen.

HOW DARE THEY????

I have 'stuffed' my feelings about the way that the Senate, and media has treated nominees for the last time. I have disliked what they did to Bork, et all way back when, and what they have been doing even more recently. I dislike what Pelosi does VEHEMENTLY, and have been very aggravated by Durbin's many recent comments, etc.

I have not at all liked what was going on, and was growing more and more angry with all the comments that had begun to be made about the fact that our most recent nominee, Judge John G Roberts is Catholic. I thought then... have we not come further than THIS since the late fifties/sixties when JFK ran for President???? How dare they discriminate against his religion!

Then, they started to go after his WIFE!!!

Since when does his wife sit on the Supreme Court?? And what difference does it mean that she has past experience with Feminists for Life???? Funny, but no one thought it so bad when our recent pro-life Presidents had pro-choice wives... they gloated over that fact, in many ways! And each wife said that her views did not matter, as her husband was the President, not she! So now... it matters?? How DARE they discriminate based on a SPOUSE'S beliefs/values!
OR how she chooses to dress her children for a very prestigious event, in summer?
It is not the SPOUSE that has been nominated, and HER stance on anything is NONE of our business!! Nor the Senate's! Nor the media's.

And NOW WE GO AFTER THE KIDS... New York Times is 'looking into the adoption records' of their two children....

This one gets very personal, and this one has really pushed me too far. Those records are SEALED, and NONE OF ANYONE's BUSINESS but the members of the Adoption Triad!! NO ONE else has ANY right to look into ANY ASPECT of those adoptions!

NO ONE.

NOT ONE BIT.

In order to adopt, we must be 'investigated' of sorts by an agency, and be 'accepted' as adoptive parents (wonder how many of you who have never adopted would ever consider having this 'investigation' become standard procedure in order to be 'approved' as biological parents... hhhmmm? ) We are judged by others before we ever bring home a child, and we do so willingly because we want to be parents!

We are able to bring home a child, and then a few months later, go to court for the process to be finalized, and then we are told that this child is now ours AS THOUGH WE GAVE BIRTH TO THEM... so, now, we get to hear from the nation's media, etc, constantly, that these two children in particular are adopted; and we get to hear where they came from; and ... NOW we learn the those adoptions ARE BEING INVESTIGATED????????

HOW DARE THEY?????? HOW DARE THEY USE THOSE TWO CHILDREN??? HOW DARE THEY INVESTIGATE THIS WHEN THE ADOPTION RECORDS ARE SEALED??? When my own ADULT children cannot have access to THEIR OWN adoption files without spending a lot of money and having to prove 'need'????

HOW DARE THEY????

A Mother's Love.....Brings Forth Life!

Happy Birthday, Susan Anne Catherine Torres!

Susan Torres, a 26 year old with a massive brain bleed due to Melanoma, managed to survive with the aid of a respirator long enough to bring her daughter closer to a survivable birth, with the aid of a respirator. There was no hope for HER to survive, due to the extensive brain damage, causing brain death. But in every pregnancy, there are TWO patients, not one.

When doctors told her husband, Jason about the prognosis, the next question was what about the baby...and as he struggled to make decisions, a nurse told him to think of what his wife would want. The answer came quickly then. Susan would want to do all she could to give her child a chance to live.

They knew it was a battle against odds that may have been insurmountable. There have been cases of others before Susan, including one of my own past patients....but to try to make it from May to Aug seemed so unlikely.

Jason felt his child kick on about June 21, and not long after, they passed the 24 week mark. That was the critical milestone that the doctors felt would make it much more likely that the little girl would be able to survive.

Susan made it longer, just weeks short of the 32 week mark that they would have preferred...

Susan Anne Catherine was born Aug. 2, 2005.

Her mother passed away on Aug. 3, 2005. May she rest in peace!

May God hold this family of father, older brother and newborn daughter in the palm of His hand, and give them peace, as well as the extended families.

The LORD bless you and keep you:
The LORD make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you:
The LORD lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.

Which CareBear are you?

Thanks to WriteWingNut ... this was a very short and sort of cute 'test'... the bottom of the cute picture has the url to the quiz.

Friend Bear
You are everyone's ideal friend because you are sincere and genuinely kind. Sometimes you worry about your friends' problems so much, you forget about your own responsibilities, which can get you into trouble. For you, it's the little things that really count. You also happen to be the main driver of the Cloud Car. No speeding!
