Thoene Book lovers--Baby Wilke Lynn Thoene Update

WILKE UPDATE

WILKE UPDATE
Bodie Thoene

This will be a short update, but we can't go to bed without giving you news. You have written such wonderful notes of encouragement that we know you really, really love this baby too.
Brock and I got to go into the NICU with Luke today and see Wilke. Though we had seen her for an instant after delivery I don't know if anything prepared us for how tiny, tiny she really is.
Sarah and I prayed together and the presence of the Lord was so warm and powerful and tangible in the room!  The lights flickered and we knew that you and others were praying along with us at the same moment!
"FEAR NOT!" His presence will help us stay steady! "Be anxious for nothing but in everything with thanks make your requests known to God!"

Brock's brother is a pediatrician at University of Michigan and so we call him and find astounding comfort from him.   He is so patient and positive and explains everything to us.   He says Wilke is doing well even though it looks scary!  He is very happy with the care.
Faith also grows from true stories of similar situations which come from you!
Personal family stories remind me that when my mother was born in 1920 she weighed 1lb. 13 ozs…and she lived and grew to be the MOST dynamic servant of the Lord!
My grandmother Trudy  (Shiloh Legacy books; Shiloh Autumn) always told me that my father (Tommy)  weighed only 2 lbs. at birth in Arkansas and when he was born she used a shoe box as a crib and breast fed him until he was strong and healthy…
So now little Wilke Lynn joins the miracle babies who were fighters from the beginning and who survived and grew up to serve the Lord in a mighty way.
But 2 lbs. is so small. It is unbelievable how tiny she is.
I know you must know what our hearts feel when we see her...
There is a scene I wrote years ago with Jefferson in "In My Father's House".   He stands up in his home church and preaches Psalm 103 about how we are the Lord's baby.  "Lay in HIS arms and let Him love you!  You don't need to pick no cotton…don't need to prove anything!  Just let Him love you like a baby!"
What amazing love the Lord has for us!  How great must His love be for you and me!  If we who are human and fallible can feel such deep longing for the life of a child…oh!  How great is the love God feels toward each one of us?
We know you will keep praying, dear ones.   We'll keep you posted. If the Lord lays it on your heart to send a scripture I want you to know we are passing them on the Luke and Sarah…you are like family, truly walking this road with us.

I love you each and cannot thank you enough for caring and praying.  One day, surely, this little child will be a mighty servant of the Most High God.

I believe she will one day sing beautiful God's praises with her Daddy and dance with joy like her Mommy.

In the Name of Yeshua

"For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother's womb.  I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made...My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place...All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be...How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God!"   Psalm 139:13-17

Baby Wilke

August 1, 2007 at 5:22 PM Wilke Lynn Thoene, was born eleven weeks before we expected her!   She weighs in at just 2 pounds and is so beautiful and perfect.

Continued prayers are appreciated as tiny Wilke will be in NICU for many weeks!

Bridge Collapses in Minneapolis

Major Minneapolis Bridge Collapses Over Mississippi River

Wednesday, August 01, 2007

FC1

MINNEAPOLIS —

The I-35W highway bridge over the Mississippi River in Minneapolis collapsed during evening rush hour Wednesday, sending many cars and motorists into the water.

Authorities tell Fox News that there are between 20- 30 people in the river while witnesses told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that at least 20 cars may have been involved.

Tons of concrete have collapsed and survivors are being carried up the riverbank. Both the northbound and southbound lanes of 35W are lying in the Mississippi River, according to local CBS affiliate WCCO-com.

Pieces of bridge wreckage lay on the east bank of the river, while large portions of concrete roadway lay on the west bank. Rescuers are scrambling to help people caught on parts of the roadway in the river gorge, according to the Star-Tribune.com.

There are multiple cars still in the river and a couple cars on fire. According to one witness, there was a school bus full of children on the bridge, according to reports.

Click here to the see live report on MyFoxTwinCities.com.

The eight-lane, 1,950-feet-long bridge is located near University Avenue connects downtown Minneapolis and the University of Minnesota.

The entire span of the 35W bridge collapsed about 6:05 p.m. where the freeway crosses the river near University Avenue.

Some people are stranded on parts of the bridge that aren't completely in the water.

A tractor-trailer is on fire at the collapse scene.

Star-tribune.com reported that workers have been improving the 40-year-old bridge's surface as part of repairs to that part of the interstate.

Brownback says rival should apologize for Catholic slur

It may have been a 'private email', but it has become PUBLIC. I am not certain I agree that Huckabee should apologize, but I DO think that the author (Pastor RUDE, perhaps an appropriate name?) should! Not only to Brownback, but to Catholics in general!

This type of anti-Catholicism is unacceptable. Senator Brownback is a strong Christian, and practices his Catholic Faith. It is NOT safe to write 'private' emails that are slurs, at any time. But when there is any chance that it can become public, it is the WRITER of the words that must accept responsibility for them. Huckabee may want to find out why, and how, and WHO made this public, but he also should speak to the Pastor to tell him that this is unacceptable.

And the 'bigger man' would also make his thoughts on that aspect public, as well as cleaning up the 'leak'. To simply say that "Rude is not a campaign staffer and was expressing a personal opinion in a private e-mail " through a SPOKESMAN is not acceptable.

God bless!

Brownback says rival should apologize for Catholic slur

Washington DC, August 1 (CNA).-Republican presidential candidate Sam Brownback said rival Mike Huckabee should apologize for a supporter's "prejudiced whisper campaign" against him for being Catholic.

According to a report by The Associated Press, Rev. Tim Rude, pastor of Walnut Creek Community Church, sent an e-mail to Brownback supporters pointing out that Huckabee is an evangelical Protestant and Brownback is not. In the e-mail, Rude calls Huckabee — a former Arkansas governor and an ordained Baptist minister "one of us."

"I know Senator Brownback converted to Roman Catholicism in 2002," wrote Rude. "Frankly, as a recovering Catholic myself, that is all I need to know about his discernment when compared to the governor's."

Rude apologized Tuesday, saying he never meant to sound critical of Catholicism.

"In no way do I think a Catholic would not make a great president," he reportedly said. "In fact, if Governor Huckabee drops out of the race, I will support Senator Brownback."

Brownback said through a spokesman that Huckabee should apologize. But Huckabee's campaign did not. Huckabee spokesman Eric Woolson said Rude is not a campaign staffer and was expressing a personal opinion in a private e-mail .

13 million hits in first three days of new Vatican City State website

The url above is for the English version. I am hoping that it is easy to navigate! It looks like it is, from what I can see! I guess that I will be spending some of my time tonight browsing!

God bless!

13 million hits in first three days of new Vatican City State website

Rome, August 1 (CNA).-The General  Secretary of the Governorate of the Vatican City State, Bishop Renato Boccardo, said that since its launch, the Vatican City's new website www.vaticanstate.va "received 13 million hits during the first three days."

"The objective of this site is to offer a good service to pilgrims and tourists," the bishop explained.  "Therefore I think it is necessary to use the modern means, as was always the desire of John Paul II and now Benedict XVI," he said.

"We are in the heart of Vatican City State, called the 'Governorate.' This is where the administration of this small State is.  This is also where the server for the new site is," he continued.

The new site's webmaster, Eugenio Hasler, said, "The Vatican is very complex.  Its interior is divided into sectors.  We have, for example, the Holy See, the State, etc.  Therefore we thought that we would present these facts through the new website in order to provide information about the departments, sectors and officials that are here."

"This is something new for the Vatican and it has attracted many people. Its one of the reasons the site has had so many visitors," Hasler said.

WALKING THROUGH THE FIRE

WALKING THROUGH THE FIRE
by
Bodie and Brock Thoene

There is little news to report today.
Tests continue, while absolute bed rest in the high-risk pregnancy ward of the hospital is what is prescribed for Sarah.  Luke has stayed every night, sleeping in a chair at Sarah's bedside.
Sarah, who is a strong, bright, athletic woman, longs to be out of bed and active again with her baby in her arms!
Luke and Sarah work together, running www.FamilyAudioLibrary.com and producing the highest quality Christian audio books.  Sarah has a degree in marketing and is wonderfully organized. Luke has a degree in Media. He is an artist in sound and music; the kind of man who loses keys and glasses frequently if Sarah is not near!   Theirs is a match made in heaven!
There are so many of you who have written to let us know you are praying. We are unable to reply at length to each of you personally, but want to let you know that every email is received with gratitude and real love for you!
We feel you are our extended family; a part of our lives.
"Each one of you is part of the body of Christ, and you were chosen to live together in peace…"  Colossians 3:15
Over the years we have walked with many of you through hard times as you have asked for prayer during family illness or heartache.   Now you have come alongside us.
Last night Judy Hageman wrote,  "I feel the power of all the prayers…it is almost tangible.  Do you feel it?"
I want you to know that YES we do feel the power of all your prayers for Luke and Sarah and our soon to arrive granddaughter!
We continue to pray for you dear ones and your own personal life challenges as well.
We are just like you…We write what we have lived and felt, which is why the stories in our books speak to your heart.  We have, in our own sorrows and joys, met the LORD personally along the road of life.  We have experienced His grace and the peace and warmth of His love even in hard times.
If there is any recurring message in our books it is this TRUTH:  Life really can be hard, but God is always faithful.  Joy abounds in the truth of John 10:10 "The thief comes to steal and kill and destroy BUT I have come that you might have life and have it abundantly!"   Jesus tells us,  'In this world you will have tribulation,  but FEAR NOT!   I have overcome the world!'
Over the past two years especially we have walked through fire with the loss of loved ones and unjust persecutions and opposition to our ministry. These are conflicts not of our own making.   The Lord, however, IS faithful through it all!
Jesus overcame the sorrows of this world for us.  He promises to give us the power and courage to go through every trial.  He says that one day He will personally wipe away every tear.  I believe His promises!   Every promise in scripture is a foundation stone of life, meant for you and us to personally stand firm upon!  Open the scripture to any page and the Word of the Lord will speak to you!
Meanwhile we are HERE to help and serve one another as the Lord's dear family.
"How wonderful it is, how pleasant, for God's people to live together in harmony!   Psalm 133:1
Thanks for walking in faith through the fire with us.  Bless you for your love and friendship and prayers for our kids and for this tiny much loved baby.
     We'll keep you posted.

Well,

Leann has just called and said that the preliminary tests on Dylan post-chemo, pre-radiation, are good.  His heart and lungs still look clear and good.  He will have the next few weeks to recoup, some and then on the 23rd he will return for a month for 2 more days of chemo and 28 days of radiation.  This will require his stay at the hospitalfor the full 30 days, as they will sedate him each day for the radiation.

So, so far, so good... He's still got a long road to haul, but he's still taking it like a champ.  Leann says he looks as good as ever and right now is doing well.  He will probably take a down turn again in the next few days, as he just finished up his last chemo on Sunday... But hopefully, he will pull through that, again...

Thanks, again, everyone for the continued thoughts and prayers!

Thoenes -- Sarah and baby Wilke Update

Anyone who has read the three Zion Series (plural!) ie: Zion Covenant, Zion Chronicles and Zion Legacy -- or any of the other books by Bodie Thoene and her husband Brock Thoene (he is the historian) will want to pray for WISE decisions by the MD's and family, as well as the safety of Sarah and Baby Wilkie. I ask you to pass this on to other Thoene readers, AND to any prayer warriors you may know.

(What a run on sentence THAT one is... sigh)
God bless!!

Sarah and baby Wilke Update
Posted by: Bodie & Brock Thoene on Tuesday, July 31, 2007

Today and tomorrow are very important days for Sarah and the baby and we ask you to pray.  Preeclampsia is very serious as so many of you know from experience!  More tests indicate to the doctors that  baby Wilke may need to be delivered by c-section possibly as early as this weekend.  Sarah and Luke have been told that baby will be in the hospital for 10 weeks if this is the case.
Decisions are being made now and we ask that you continue to pray.
We know and believe and claim God's promise in Romans 8:28 that "All things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose!"         Thank you for standing with our family in prayer and faith through this.  We continue to pass along all your wonderful encouragement to Sarah and Luke in the hospital!   It means so much to them! May the blessings you send to Sarah and Luke through your email encouragement  be  returned on you and your family!

Blessings and Shalom!
Bodie and Brock and all the family

Updates on Sarah and Baby
Posted by: Bodie & Brock Thoene on Saturday, July 28, 2007

It has been a busy month here at the Thoene homebase.   We've been finishing the galley proofs for Seventh Day and completing the final editing of Eighth Shepherd with our editor,  Ramona Tucker.    Researching, writing and working for the Lord is always a blessing. No day goes by without some wonderful Holy Spirit insight into the scriptures.   This is why the Bible is called,  The Living WORD!
Our main focus is always Yeshua, our Messiah and Shepherd.  Like you,  we desire to listen to no other voice but HIS VOICE in the confusion and rattle of this present age.
There are moments when personal difficulties and concerns seem to shout down our ability to hear clearly what it is our Shepherd is saying to us.   Those are the times we open our Bibles and read and see again that EVERYTHING means something...EVERYTHING means God loves us personally.
King David wrote, "Before I was born,  YOU knew me...as I was being formed in my mother's womb you watched over me..."
Today as we pray for Sarah and our grandbaby,  we are claiming that TRUTH and promise from our loving Father in the name of Jesus.
Dear friends,  it looks like it's going to be a marathon.   We will keep you posted. Thanks for all your wonderful prayers and emails.  We printed them all out and took them to the hospital for Sarah and Luke to read and cherish.  No doubt your written words will be saved for baby Wilkie to read some day.
We are praying Psalm 91 for you each as well.
Love in Jesus Name,
Bodie and Brock and all the Thoene clan
