Prolife Students Vehemently Attacked by Faculty Member — U- North Carolina at Charlotte

Prolife Students Vehemently Attacked by Faculty Member University of North Carolina at Charlotte

Kristen Giseler, president of the group, tells the events of the day in her own words (emphasis added):

“While I was handing out pregnancy resource packets this afternoon, a pro-abortion nursing faculty [member] was offered a packet… Instead of simply refusing, she shouted “I am PRO CHOICE.” Being a peaceful group, we smiled and acknowledged her as pro-abortion. From across the street she shouted, “GET A LIFE, Protect women's rights.”

We are certain this woman called the campus police.

About 10 till 1, just before the vigil's close, campus police arrived to escort us away from the student union. [Students for Life had] the space outside reserved and approved the entire 40 Days.

I am very proud of my team for talking politely to the police, and verifying that we do have permission to be at the vigil.”

I say: Do Not Learn To Live With Less. Learn To Afford More!

by Alyona Nickelsen
March 2010

“They tell us we must learn to live with less, and teach our children that their lives will be less full and prosperous than ours have been; that the America of the coming years will be a place where — because of our past excesses — it will be impossible to dream and make those dreams come true. I don't believe that. And, I don't believe you do either. That is why I am seeking the presidency. I cannot and will not stand by and see this great country destroy itself. Our leaders attempt to blame their failures on circumstances beyond their control, on false estimates by unknown, unidentifiable experts who rewrite modern history in an attempt to convince us our high standard of living, the result of thrift and hard work, is somehow selfish extravagance which we must renounce as we join in sharing scarcity. I don't agree that our nation must resign itself to inevitable decline, yielding its proud position to other hands. I am totally unwilling to see this country fail in its obligation to itself and to the other free peoples of the world. “
Ronald Reagan from Official Announcement of his candidacy for President of the United States in 1979

I can’t believe that many years later I am in complete agreement with the same person who I was taught by my Soviet school teachers was “the worst person on Earth”– Ronald Reagan.

I was taught to take less all my life. I was taught that private property is the sign of the decaying morality of a capitalist society. I was taught that my life is not important but that my sacrifice is necessary for the victory of Communism over the entire world. Indeed, that I am only a small, disposable screw in a huge machine. However, measuring by number of “possessed” personal goods, there were a limited few “screws” who were of much greater importance than the rest of us. They were the so-called “party elite”.

If someone tells you that “that was then and there” and has nothing to do with us, please keep in mind that socialism is the same at all times and in all places. I had a recent email conversation with one of my students. She currently lives in Germany but originally came from Poland. We talked about the life “then and there” when my family of four people from four generations lived in one room (not one bedroom but a single room) apartment in Kiev, Ukraine. The room was about 100 square feet. We shared a hallway, a bathroom and a kitchen with three other families who lived in the similar sized rooms. All 12 people in our “commune apartment” lived their lives, took less and believed that this was a just and necessary sacrifice for the future of their country and their children.

Here is my student’s experience: “then” but in a more civilized part of the world compared to USSR.

“As to one of your recent emails - I also remember very well the times when my parents, my brother and I used to live in a dark 2-room flat (my father was a doctor but did not want to enter the communistic party). Parents were sleeping in the living room on some sort of couch (in polish called tapczanie). When we got to Germany it even got worse. We lived in one room - we shared the same flat with two other families (all in all 10 persons in three single rooms) with one small bathroom and a kitchen together. We four were then sleeping on two bunk beds pushed together to have more space in the middle of the room. I can promise you, this situation would not be considered as humane nowadays... :-)) But after my father got a job it changed...

I can only laugh out loud when I think of Xmas when we 4 shared 2 bananas like eating some sort of delicacy - Chewing very slowly...

Thank God these times are over. :-))”

And there was the instance a few months ago when Oprah Winfrey had a trip to Denmark to show the world how wonderful it is when the government takes care of everything. One of her examples explained how wonderful an average family lives in Denmark showed a visit to a “typical” Danish home. The small part of the video is posted here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8fCbOX0Ou8

She could not resist and made remarks such as: “Is this is a whole bedroom? You are kidding me? Where is the closet?” ”That is your whole refrigerator? This is small.”

However, I saw the entire program on TV and the major gem of the video was cut out of the YouTube version. In it, Oprah asked: “Where do you put your things?” The woman answered: “We are ok. We do not have things.”

And here some comments from the Danish people who made notes about this video on YouTube: “I live in Danmark, and this is NOT a tipical Danish home Thows people hum live in there are reach.... People in Danmark are living well, but not that Well... How she want to look in that video... They heave all what they neede but they are not reach!”; “If this is an average danish home hen I live in extreme poverty!”

Therefore, this is already happening in the “now”, but it is still over “there”. Do we really want to have it “now and here”? Not me. Socialism is the same at all times and in all places. Been there done that!

I am very skeptical about those who say that they are really concerned about my well being and are only thinking about the ways to improve my condition in the future by making me suffer today. And, of course, these people are very concerned not only about my personal future, but about the rest of us. So, obviously, there will be line that you will wait in. Each of us will receive only what the party says we deserve and only when our turn comes. And there always will be some elite who decides when your turn will come and how much you deserve.

We need to stop learning to take less and find ways to earn more. We need to be responsible for our actions and stop waiting for a government that will take care of us. As Ronald Reagan said, ”government doesn't tax to get the money it needs, government always needs the money it gets.” Wealth must be spread willingly by its owners, not under orders from a bunch of bureaucrats.

What does all of this have to do with art? Only everything! Being an artist doesn’t require that you starve. However, artists will starve first when the rest of humanity learns to take less.

Remembering Terri today............

From Suzanne, Terri's sister:

Please remember Terri today... Day 1

Today, March 18, 2005, was Day 1 of Judge George W. Greer's court ordered slow death by starvation and dehydration of Terri Schindler Schiavo. Over the next two weeks we will post stories of the events that occurred on each of the 13 horrific days that Terri went without food or water at www.terrisfight.org. We offer this not only in regard for Terri's memory, but a reminder that in this moment countless people are suffering slow, agonizing deaths in hospice, nursing homes, and hospitals in America and around the world.

That is from her FB page. On the website, the first story is entitled

Congressional Intervention Fails to Spare Terri Schiavo
From March 18, 2005 (World Net Daily)

THIS has always bothered me tremendously. Subpoenas were issued for Terri, Michael, and others to appear before a Congressional hearing on Mar 28, 2005. Greer ordered the tube removed, and NOTHING given by mouth on Mar 18, 2005, in spite of those orders to appear.... the thinking was that Terri would die in a week to ten days. Terri lived past that date, surviving nearly a full two weeks, missing it by only one day.

Yet, no one has ever faced any consequences for NOT APPEARING before Congress. So why should ANYONE ever pay any attention to them, ever again? That's all I could think of as I watched the baseball hearings, and others over the past five years. "Why are you there?? Michael Schiavo and the rest of them never faced any consequences for killing Terri before she could appear, and then not showing up themselves... "

Greer had no respect for the Congressional hearing, either. And he was never even chastised?? So why should ANYONE bother?

Though Felos tried to put the focus on the 'terrible' actions of the Congress, I have thought that it was a direct attempt to make sure that she was gone before anyone could do anything about it that caused them to make CERTAIN that there were no further delays regardless of where the delays came from . What were they afraid of?

Greer NEVER saw Terri. The rest who did, knew that she was able to track, and was responsive, and was on NO life support.

Felos knew it. He wants euthanasia legalized.

Michael knew it--he had his own reasons for not wanting her alive.... and I have my doubts that it had anything to do with Terri's wishes.

The Schindler attorneys knew it. So did the Schindler family, Fr Pavone, Br Paul and others who were with Terri.

But what if she was out in the open, and OTHERS saw this as well?
What if it had happened on C-Span, and the people of the USA could really see Terri??

Instead, they made sure that she'd be dead ...

Follow her memoriam at the family website:

May she rest in peace!
May her father also rest in peace!
My prayer for the Schindler family is Numbers 6:24-26

St Patrick's Day

St Patrick's Day

Repeating my post from last year, simply because....
I love the pictures, and the thoughts.
God bless!

Happy St Patrick's Day!

May your home always be a safe and warm refuge!
May your visitors feel welcome!
May He be honored there always, and always present!

May you have enough for you, and yours...
and always toss in a few extra potatoes for others who may come.

Friendship~Loyalty~Love
May you always be faithful to those you owe fidelity.

May God be with you and bless you,
may you see your children's children,
may you be poor in misfortunes and rich in blessing,
may you know nothing but happiness from this day forward.

"Three things I cannot escape:
the eye of God,
the voice of conscience,
the stroke of death.
In company, guard your tongue.
In your family, guard your temper.
When alone guard your thoughts."

Disgusted

Disgusted

Girl Scouts Gone Wild by Kathryn Jean Lopez

Yeah, it is absolutely disgusting.

As a result, many are not going to buy GS cookies any more. That's fine, for it will give the Nat'l Souts much less $$ to work with, to do this type of thing,

However, most local GS troops have nothing to do with Nat'l decisions, and are run by ordinary people like us, as are the local GS offices and GS camps. GS cookie money also goes to fund the troops and camperships. Ultimately, it is the girls in the troops who will suffer from a boycott of cookie sales.

As a former GS and GS Leader, troop organizer/consultant, Service Team Chairman, Catholic religious awards leader, Day Camp counselor and Day Camp Assistant Director, my suggestion for those who wish to boycott is to let the Nat'l Girl Scout Leadership know that you do NOT approve of this and find a few troops that are being lead by GOOD people, donate to them the equivalent of what you would have spent on GS cookies, and directly to local offices clearly bookmarked for Camperships to local GS camps......

If there are OTHER girls organizations out there that are similar to the GS, put your daughters in them, but until there ARE replacements everywhere, the good leaders, as well as the girls themselves need to be supported in the good things that Scouting teaches and affirms.

I saw the 'feminist' things beginning when I still served long ago as an Adult Girl Scout (have the Thanks Badge and the St Elizabeth Seton Awards for what I did during those years). But NONE of the troops in our area were run by any radical feminist, and would never have supported this action of the Nat'l Board. I also think that many (most) today would feel the same way.

I also would like to see some of the alternatives to the GS STARTED all over the place, even more than a cookie boycott. The alternatives would give parents a better choice as to where to put their daughters, to learn the GOOD things about what the GS teach, the values that began the Scouting movement long ago. That would remove not only the cookie funding, but also the DUES paid by the Leaders and the Scouts from the National organization, and give girls a place to learn many valuable things.

The author of the above article named one such alternative at the end of her article, though I have not heard of it. I have also recently heard of Little Flowers, though I also know nothing about them.

While the Boy Scouts have been attacked from without, the GS have been taken over from within, but the local troops are NOT run in the same way as Boy Scouts are, with a monthly guide for meetings.

At least, they weren't.

The Leaders of each troop is therefore free to plan their own meetings and outings, working on Badges, Camping, etc. To a large extent, this even includes how a Badge is earned. Parents can work with girls on them, and the Troop works on some togethter. While there are requirements for each Badge, how it is completed is in the control of the Leader, most times.

I wrote the above part before I read a link to a decade old article hyperlinked in the one above. She'd also written The Cookie Crumbles When I read this one, I was even more disgusted, for I knew NOTHING about this fact:

In 1975, a Catholic archdiocese cut off all support of the Girl Scouts because of their sex-ed program

I was married in 1970, and wanted a family that was not coming. I needed to be with children, and volunteered to work as a counselor at a local GS Day Camp for nearly the entire summer. That Fall, I also took a Brownie GS Troop, as Leader. That was in 1972. I noted the difference from what I remember the GS oath being, but didn't think much of it, as it had been a LONG time since I had been a Brownie-Cadette Girl Scout. In the next few years, I also volunteered for Brownie Troop Organizer/Consultant (2 jobs) and when no one else would, added Service Team Chairman to my volunteer jobs, in addition to my full time nursing job... I also became the Ass't Day Camp Director of our local GS Camp the summer of 1973. I loved it all. I loved the Girls.

I wanted them to also know that Girl Scouts owed loyalty to GOD as well as their country, so I began to work with my Scouts on the Religious Awards, and then with other troops as well.

For all of this, I was awarded the second highest awards in Girl Scouts, the Thanks Badge, and in Catholic Scouting, the St Elizabeth Ann Seton award. This was about 1981. I stayed in Scouts another couple of years, but had to give it up just as my own daughters became old enough to join, because our life took a DRASTIC change just a year later............I did day camp for awhile longer, but eventually gave up my troop and the other jobs in order to raise my kids alone.

I am therefore, not only disgusted, but also ANGRY in all of the time I was serving, I knew NOTHING about any sex ed program, and NOTHING about the Archdiocese' decision to remove Scouts!!! Though I saw some changes I was not comfortable with, I also knew that those changes were NOT wide-spread in our area.

I am therefore truly disgusted by the fact that to all of this, it seems that the National Girl Scouts of America have now also added DECEIT to their offenses... and encourage you to also read this article:
