Jane Brennan: Motherhood Interrupted

A reminder that Jane will be speaking and signing her book in the DC area. A friend of ours (Jane's and mine) heard her speak for the first time in Mesa, AZ, as I did when Jane was in the DC area last year, and was just as impressed by her in person as we had been prior to that via our online friendship.

Janie has been through this, and has a heart for women who are suffering from the effects of their own abortions, and she is no longer silent. She is a very special woman who has chosen to give others the help that she herself has been given, just as Scripture has told us to do. Don't miss the opportunity to meet her, and to hear her speak if you are able to do so. You will be blessed.

Abortion affects everyone in ways that are not seen. So many families have been hit by abortion. There are few who can say that they have never been touched by it. Jane gives us the perspective of the woman caught in situations where they often see no other way to go, and later, have no way to find help to deal with the after-effects.

Pass this schedule on, and encourage others to hear her speak, please!

Day 7 Novena Against FOCA

Reminder to pray the Rosary (or Divine Mercy Chaplet) for Catholics, and to consider fasting today, as well. Today, Saturday, would be the Joyful Mysteries, and you can meditate on the Scriptural Rosary as you pray, if you wish.

For those who choose to say the Divine Mercy Chaplet:

Reminder to those who are not Catholic that we are asking you to join us in prayer and fasting for the 9 day duration of this Novena, using any prayers that you are comfortable with for intercessory prayer, including praying appropriate Scripture verses.

Remember that with God all things are possible and the power of prayer is undeniable. If you are against the senseless killing of defenseless children then the time is now to do something about it!

Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life,
and for the lives of all my brothers and sisters.
I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion,
yet I rejoice that you have conquered death by the Resurrection of Your Son.
I am ready to do my part in ending abortion!
Today I commit myself never to be silent,
never to be passive,
never to be forgetful of the unborn.
I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement (if the Lord places this on your heart),
and never to stop defending life until all my brothers and sisters are protected,
and our nation once again becomes
a nation with liberty and justice Not just for some, but for all.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

God bless!

Lord, have Mercy!

Waiting for Baby

As regular readers know from the baby ticker on the left, we are awaiting the birth of my sixth grandchild, a girl, according to the Experts (I hope they are right, because there will be a great many very disappointed souls should it turn out to be son number three, beginning with Daddy and older brothers!)...

Please keep my daughter and grandchild in prayer, as tomorrow at 8:30 AM, her induction is scheduled. Labor for this daughter is usually quite rapid. This is baby number three for her, and her last labor was just barely over two hours, and there was a complication that kept my grandson in the hospital on IV antibiotics.

Pray for safe delivery, healthy baby and mommy, please. I will be there, God willing. If all goes as planned right NOW, I will leave work as close to time as possible, go to Walmart to get a new battery for my camera and a new 'chip' to put in since the other is full, and I cannot find my cord to download them to my puter. I'll then go to meet them at the hospital.

IF she goes into labor before the scheduled time, it will be a race. I will leave work, and probably SKIP the trip to Walmart, and be very disappointed that I cannot take my own pictures, but will have to trust that my son-in-law gets good ones, too. (He will, I know, but I still like to take my own, too).

There are many of us who cannot WAIT to hold her! Mommy is tired of being pregnant, and she is ready to get the show on the road.

God bless!

70-year-old confronts intruder

And this story, thank God, had a happy ending, even though she spent time in the hospital when it was all over. Pray for the young man, AND her.

MORALLY AND LEGALLY CORRECT SIDE? REALLY!

Terri's News Alert came today, and included was a video of Keith Olberman which has a blatantly false statement in it. Terri's brain had NOT ceased all activity!!!  Furthermore, no one will ever convince me that 70% of those Americans who understood the TRUTH about Terri Schindler Schiavo EVER favored having her (or anyone else) STARVED and DEHYDRATED to death!

Keith Olbermann of MSNBC Viciously Attacks Terri Supporter

Dear Friends,

An alarming anti-life trend is taking shape in official Washington as President Elect Barack Obama starts filling posts at the Justice Department. Attorney Thomas Perelli, you may recall, was assigned by the ACLU to promote the judicial killing of my sister Terri.

Today, this man stands nominated by President Elect Obama for a top deputy attorney general spot at the justice department.

As you probably know, our struggle at Terri's Foundation is against those who not only disregard the sanctity of life, but have publicly proclaimed they are working to promote a culture of death.

And news media bias promoting the killing of the severely disabled like Terri is well known, but it's not often that a media commentator so openly displays his vicious hatred of those who simply love life as Keith Olbermann did January 6, 2009 on MSNBC:

http://blip.tv/file/623521?filename=Celebutantes-CelebutantesPart1LolaSantisi274.flv

Can you believe that? The WRONG side--legally and morally? What is morally wrong about preventing someone from being dehydrated to death? What is legally wrong with protecting the life of someone who is innocent, not terminally ill, and who simply wants to live? And I'm not merely talking about Terri.

Did you know that right now, today, in hospitals from coast to coast "ethics boards" are seeking to remove food and water from those who are not terminally ill? Did you know that in all but ten states--without legal and medical intervention--the hospitals have been empowered to do so?

And since Terri passed away we have been asked to help in over 500 cases providing legal and medical referrals which have culminated in saving hundreds of innocent lives.

You can expect such attacks to continue from every corner of the print and electronic media these next four years and beyond. And we must all take up the fight in our churches, organizations, and through involvement in public or elected life.

Please read the rest of the newsletter here, and help in any way that you are able to.

God bless!

Freedom of Choice Act - Desperate Call for Prayer! Novena Begins TODAY

Today begins the Novena... Though many are saying the Rosary, others are saying the
Divine Mercy Chaplet. Whatever you choose to do, PRAY, and fast...

God bless!

Lord have Mercy!

NOVENA TO STOP FOCA

If you are opposed to abortion then there is bad news on the horizon.

For those of you who do not know, the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) is set to be signed if congress passes it on January 21-22 of 2009. The FOCA is the next sick chapter in the book of abortion.

If made a law then all limitations on abortion will be lifted which will result in the following:

1) All hospitals, including Catholic hospitals will be required to perform abortions upon request. If this happens Bishops vow to close down all Catholic hospitals, more then 30% of all hospitals in the United States.
2) Partial birth abortions would be legal and have no limitations.
3) All U.S. tax payers would be funding abortions.
4) Parental notification will no longer be required.
5) The number of abortions will increase by a minimum of 100,000 annually.

Perhaps most importantly the government will now have control in the issue of abortion. This could result in a future amendment that would force women by law to have abortions in certain situations (rape, down syndrome babies, etc) and could even regulate how many children women are allowed to have. Needless to say this information is disturbing, but sadly true. As Catholics, as Christians, as anyone who is against the needless killing of innocent children, we must stand as one. We must stop this horrific act before it becomes a law.

The Plan: To say a novena (9 days of prayer) along with fasting starting on January 11th. For Catholics, the prayer of choice will be the Rosary with intentions to stop the FOCA.

For non Catholics I encourage you to pray your strongest prayers with the same intentions, also for nine consecutive days. The hope is that this will branch and blossom as to become a global effort with maximum impact. We have very little time so we all must act fast.
Just do three things:

1) Pass this letter to 5 or more people
2) Do it in three days or less
3) Start the novena on January 11th and pray for nine consecutive days. (please also fast for at least two days during the novena)

Amen.

"Divorce tears marriage apart. It desolates both husband and wife. It leaves the children not only in tears but also in misery. We do not deny that there can be serious disagreement between husband and wife, but divorce is not the solution. When husband and wife have a disagreement, they should reflect, pray, sit together and discuss. Accept fault where you are wrong, ask for pardon, or consult a priest or other spiritual adviser, but do not divorce."

Moral Clarity in Gaza by CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER

Moral Clarity in Gaza

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER

Some geopolitical conflicts are morally complicated. The Israel-Gaza war is not. It possesses a moral clarity not only rare but excruciating.

Late Saturday, thousands of Gazans received Arabic-language cell-phone messages from the Israeli military, urging them to leave homes where militants might have stashed weapons.

- Associated Press, Dec. 27

Israel is so scrupulous about civilian life that, risking the element of surprise, it contacts enemy noncombatants in advance to warn them of approaching danger. Hamas, which started this conflict with unrelenting rocket and mortar attacks on unarmed Israelis -- 6,464 launched from Gaza in the past three years -- deliberately places its weapons in and near the homes of its own people.

This has two purposes. First, counting on the moral scrupulousness of Israel, Hamas figures civilian proximity might help protect at least part of its arsenal. Second, knowing that Israelis have new precision weapons that may allow them to attack nonetheless, Hamas hopes that inevitable collateral damage -- or, if it is really fortunate, an errant Israeli bomb -- will kill large numbers of its own people for which, of course, the world will blame Israel.
