Revised Good Friday Prayer Defended

Both a Bishop and a Rabbi defend the prayer for the salvation of the Jews in the
Good Friday prayers of the Tridentine liturgy.

McCain ‘Repudiates’ Televangelist Hagee’s Catholic Views

Glad to hear this! I must have MISSED Pelosi's statement.

God bless!

McCain 'Repudiates' Televangelist Hagee's Catholic Views, Following Endorsement

The full article can be found here....

On Friday, McCain took a stronger stance on Hagee's views in an interview with The Associated Press.

"We've had a dignified campaign, and I repudiate any comments that are made, including Pastor Hagee's, if they are anti-Catholic or offensive to Catholics," McCain said.

"I sent two of my children to Catholic school. I categorically reject and repudiate any statement that was made that was anti-Catholic, both in intent and nature. I categorically reject it, and I repudiate it," McCain said.

"And we can't have that in this campaign," McCain said. "We're trying to unite the country. We're uniting the country, not dividing it."

He was responding to one critic in particular, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat, who raised the issue in a Thursday conference call with reporters.

"She made the attack. I am responding by saying that I am against discrimination and anti-Semitism, anti-Catholic, anything racial, and I have proved that on the campaign trail," McCain said.

Hagee's endorsement had been intended to shore up McCain's support among evangelical or born-again Christians, many of whom distrust McCain for some of his more moderate views and his willingness to work with Democrats.

WIS Right to Life Challenging latest PP and NARAL media campaign

Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin are at it again, only this time, they are fighting a law that they helped to pass in 1985! Note the bold/colored quotes below....

Sadly, many won't know that or look into it, so will believe the lies that are being told.

Pass this on ...

Life - Wisconsin Right To Life - News Release

Wisconsin Right to Life Demands a Halt to the Flagrantly Dishonest Planned Parenthood-NARAL Pro-Choice Ad Campaign

Friday, March 7, 2008

Yesterday, Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin announced a media campaign that falsely accuses Assembly Representatives Jim Ott (R-Mequon), Mark Honadel (R-South Milwaukee), Karl Van Roy (R-Green Bay) and Mike Huebsch (R-West Salem) of supporting legislation that would result in women being imprisoned for having abortions.

"The accusation that Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin are making is a blatant lie," said Susan Armacost, Legislative Director for Wisconsin Right to Life.

"The fact is, no woman in the state of Wisconsin will ever go to prison or face any penalty for having an abortion in this state and these dishonest organizations know it,"said Armacost.

Armacost explained that in attempting to justify their false claim, Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin cite a law, s. 940.04, that, prior to 1985, could have been used as the basis for prosecuting women who obtained abortions.

But these unscrupulous organizations fail to tell people that the penalties were nullified by the legislature in 1985 when legislation was enacted (s.940.13) that completely exempts women who undergo abortions in Wisconsin from being penalized in any way under Wisconsin law.  All four of the targeted legislators oppose penalizing women for having abortions and they fully support s. 940.13.

"What is even more shocking is that Planned Parenthood participated in and endorsed the passage of the 1985 provision that was enacted to keep women who have abortions out of prison," said Armacost.  "And now they are attacking lawmakers for supporting the very law they helped to enact!. This is the height of hypocrisy."

"Wisconsin Right to Life calls on Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice to immediately stop this flagrantly dishonest campaign," said Armacost.

Jill Stanek on Obama

Jill Stanek's newsletter came, and I had time to read more this morning.

She had an article on her blog the other day that really emphasizes just how liberal Obama really is. It was in response to his saying that the gov't's attempts and trying to save Terri Schiavo's life was a mistake.

Someone in the comments referenced a 'nurse' going in to tell Terri about their plans ... but it was not a nurse. It was Barbara Weller, her attorney. Until just a few days ago, I had John Sipos' interview with her on my sidebar. It was not getting any hits, and I wanted to put the three books there. So, today, I am again posting his interview (which my son put on youtube for me after I could not get it into my blog any other way. John gave me permission to use this.

Palestinian Militants Hail Massacre at Jerusalem Seminary

The terrible news of the murders of eight people at a Jewish religious school isn't bad enough, but now we see photos of celebration of this fact! Shooting unarmed students is a cause for CELEBRATION?? Not! It is sick and cowardly.

JERUSALEM —  Hamas Islamists have claimed responsibility for a Jerusalem shooting attack at a Jewish religious school that killed eight people, Reuters reports.

Hamas militants cheered over the deadly shooting as thousands of Palestinians took to the streets of Gaza to celebrate Thursday amid recent armed conflicts in the Hamas-controlled strip.

Earlier, a gunman entered the library of a rabbinical seminary and opened fire on a crowded nighttime study session Thursday, killing eight people and wounding nine before he was slain, police and rescue workers said. It was the first major militant attack in Jerusalem in more than four years.

Previous reports said there were two gunmen and quoted a death toll of at least 10.

Photos: Massacre in Jerusalem

"This heroic attack in Jerusalem is a normal response to the crimes of the occupier and its murder of civilians," Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said.

Hamas stopped just short of claiming responsibility for the Jerusalem shootings. "We bless the operation. It will not be the last," Hamas said in a statement sent to reporters by text message.

Repairing Fr. Bozek's sacramental blunders

Abp. Burke, once again, is showing us all how it's supposed to be done.

In a remarkable gesture of pastoral concern for his people, St. Louis Abp. Raymond Burke, who for some three years has been trying to effect the reconciliation of a renegade Polish priest named Fr. Marek Bozek, has alerted the faithful who might be approaching Fr. Bozek for sacramental services, that any attempts by Fr. Bozek to celebrate the sacraments of Confession (1983 CIC 966) or Confirmation (1983 CIC 882-883), or to witness the weddings of Catholics bound by form (1983 CIC 1108), are invalid, and that such Catholics may contact his office directly for assistance in securing these sacraments validly and licitly.
I'll be discussing Fr. Bozek's situation, who as of today is officially careening toward laicization, with Al Kresta today starting about 4:20 pm Eastern on WDEO AM 990 in Detroit / Ann Arbor, or listen live here.

Pentagon News about Fr Capodanno

I belonged to a now defunct Catholic email forum when I first heard of Fr Vincent Capodanno from a man named "Nino" who came from 'The Island that is long". He held Fr in very high esteem, and then later told us about a new book about him, The Grunt Padre by Fr Dan Mode. Well, it turned out that my sister's Pastor at the time WAS Fr Dan Mode, and his book was sold in their parish bookstore! So while visiting her, I was able to get the book, and have it autographed.

I have been watching for more news of Fr Capodanno over the years, and have been following his cause for Sainthood.

Now, the Navy is once again reminding us of him. Use the hyperlink below in the information from the CatholicMil.org newsletter to view the video (this is only a picture).

From the Mar 1, 2008 CatholicMil.org newsletter:

The Pentagon Channel recently produced a broadcast in honor of Vietnam chaplain and MOH recipient Fr. Vincent Capodanno, LT, CHC, USN on the occassion of the anniversary of his birthday, 13February. Included in the three and a half minute clip are interviews with Fr. Daniel Mode, author of the Grunt Padre, and Vice Postulator Mary Preece.

Half a dozen Operation Swift and Vietnam veterans who served with Servant of God Fr. Vincent Capodanno, LT, CHC, USNR
will be traveling to Virginia to take part in CatholicMil's latest media project- preserving on film testimonies. Modern and effective means of communication are vital to record, preserve and share such moments of American and Church history. The veterans' testimony will serve to advance the Cause of Fr. Capodanno. Filming is scheduled to take place in the third week of April.
You have the opportunity to sponsor in whole or in part any one of these veterans, still giving so generously of themselves.

Says Fred Tancke, "The entire battle looms in my mind as if it was yesterday. It is time to bury the past and continue to give celebration to Father Capodanno for his compassion, love of the Marines he served and his heroics."

For more information on sponsoring this vital project, email:

Habits, Sisters, and JPII the Great Catholic High School

There have been quite a few visitors recently that are searching for JPII the Great High School in Virgina. The one today resulted in my 'finding' another blogger with an interesting perspective.

Wondering why a search would bring someone to my blog on the topic? After all, I am from WI, my kids are grown, and there is no possibility that any of my Grandkids will ever attend this High School. But it was intriguing to watch Sister Mary Jordan Hoover, and that led me to look further and then write about the beginnings of this new school, as well as the already appointed principal.

Reading Fr Gonzalez tonight, I also found a reference to the former principal of the High School here in WI that two of my three attended in Wausau, WI--Newman High School. Timothy McNiff left us and went to VA while we still lived in the area after having attained his Doctorate. He was very helpful to this Mom when my oldest was entering High School, because without the reduced tuition he offered, Newman High School would not have been part of our lives.

We were sad to see him leave, but then had a real surprise when talking to my sister living out in the DC area. One of her close friends worked for the Diocese of Arlington, and her boss was none other than 'our' Timothy McNiff!

Fr Gonzalez has referenced a news article with an entirely different perspective on this topic than what I had written, however, and it is worth reading.

Overheard in the Sacristy: "Sisters" take note: "Sister Mary Jordan Hoover"

Sr Mary Jordan Hoover is from the "Nashville Dominicans".
There is also another order of Dominicans in Ann Arbor, MI (the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of Eucharist)

""Middle Name Meme"

My friend, Lee, has tagged me. After she found Paul Thoughts of a Regular Guy
from my list, and made a hit there, he tagged HER, and she got me. (Grin)

Tried to tell her I gave up meme's for Lent, but she knows me, and probably won't buy it. Sigh....

SO, here are the rules:

1. You have to post the rules before you give your answers.
2. You must list one fact about yourself beginning with each letter of your middle name. (If you don’t have a middle name, use your maiden name or your mother’s maiden name).
3. At the end of your blog post, you need to tag one person for each letter of your middle name.

My middle name is Lee. (HAH, can't get much shorter, can you?)

L is for LOYAL, LOVING and Logical (small Letters because that is a trait Less often recognized by some)

E is for EMPATHETIC and ETHICAL

E is also for EMOTIVE and ENTHUSIATIC (about things I Enjoy, not about Everything, though I, too, can be Expressive!)

Now for the three that I tag (poor souls...see? empathetic... "sympathetic" would mean I'd do them for the people... "empathetic" means I feel their pain, but make them do it themselves.... lol)

1) Irishmade
2) Sarah's Journal
3) Lee, tell your dh that HE has been tagged... grinning and ducking!

God bless!!
