Divorce Not Easy in NY...for now?

No fault divorce is not the answer. It is hell on earth.
It is forced, unilateral and a denial of due process for the Respondent. It is, according to a retired Judge, unconstitutional.

God bless!

NEW YORK (AP) -- In New York, you can get just about anything, except a no-fault divorce.
New York is the only state in the nation that won't allow the speedy dissolution of a marriage without proof that one spouse is at fault, experts say.

Adultery counts, but irreconcilabledifferences don't. "He beats me" (with proof) works, but "We grew apart" doesn't cut it.

New York's divorce system has been ridiculed as hopelessly outdated, and sometimes results in endless litigation and couples leaving the state to evade the law. Some couple engage in no-holds-barred fights like the one between a Brooklyn couple, Chana and Simon Taub. A jury this week denied the couple a divorce, escalating the feud.
Divorce lawyer Bernard Clair said New York's system is antiquated because divorce today is really about dividing an economic partnership.

Several prominent groups and officials are in favor of a no-fault divorce law, including the state's chief judge, Judith Kaye. The New York City bar also supports a no-fault law. But for now there's no sign a change of the law.
