Anonymous poster misses the point... Kennedy First Marriage is VALID

An anonymous poster (and I do not 'buy' anonymous posters....at least use an ID if you are going to post comments, and give your opinion SOME weight!) wrote:

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post " The Kennedy annulments":

An important correction to your article on the Kennedy annulment: it was Sheila Rauch Kennedy that divorced Joe Kennedy, not the other way around. The marriage had irretrievably broken down, so he agreed to the divorce.

My response:

First, if you are going to dispute something, dispute the source. The 'facts' came from an article carried by CWNews.com after an article broke the story in Time magazine.

Second, one does not have any CHOICE when papers are served on one in no fault divorce. There is no stopping it once it begins except reconciliation...or the Plaintiff dropping the case for another reason.

Third, it has been a very long time since they were in the news, so if there was adultery, etc, he again may not have had much choice in the matter... OR, he may have wanted one but agreed to let HER serve the papers. It REALLY makes no difference! The point of the story is... he is still married to Sheila Rauch Kennedy, whether he likes it or not.

He is in a situation with a VALID first marriage, and his second one is not valid. What does Jesus say about a marriage to another after divorce? Read His words in four places in the NT.

Matt 5:31-32
Divorce
31"It has been said, 'Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce. 32 But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.

Matt 19:3-8
3Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?"  4 "Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female, 5 and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh? 6So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."  7"Why then," they asked, "did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?"   8 Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. 9 I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery."

Mark 10:2-10 2Some Pharisees came and tested him by asking, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?"  3 "What did Moses command you?" he replied.  4They said, "Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send her away."   5"It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law," Jesus replied. 6"But at the beginning of creation God 'made them male and female. 7'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife 8and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one. 9 Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."  10When they were in the house again, the disciples asked Jesus about this. 11 He answered, "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. 12 And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery."

Luke 16:18
18"Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery, and the man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
