Pat Gohn's Prom Mom's Prayers

Sometimes you come across things that you wish had been 'out there', or that YOU thought of yourself, but at a time when you no longer 'need' it.

Such is the open letter to the young man taking her daughter to Prom... Pat Gohn's "Prom Mom's Prayers"

On another site that carried this today, Perry Como's "Father of Girls" was mentioned. I had not heard that song in YEARS. My mother was a fan of Perry..she did not even call him anything BUT "Perry"...so I have heard this song many times in former days. I could not, however, bring it to the 'front of my mind', so I searched for it.

He is right. I am listening to it now, for the umpteenth time, moist eyes remembering the days.... the prayers, the worries....and thinking of a certain granddaughter, now 6 1/2 yrs old.

God bless!

Perry Como "The Father Of Girls"

When you're the father of boys,
How you worry,
But when you're the father of girls,
You do more than that,
You Pray!

From the time of diaper and pin,
'Till the time they cry, "don't come in!"
'Till the time you gown them in white,
And give them away,
You worry, you worry,
You worry, night and day!

When she's a plain little girl,
How you worry,
But when she's a beautiful thing,
You do more than that,
You pray!

Boys come 'round when they want a date,
Girls may only stay home and wait,
When she's out you sit up all night,
With her first baby toy!

You trust her, but worry,
'Cause you were once a boy!

When you're the father of boys,
How you worry,
But when you're the father of girls,
You do more than that,
You pray!
