He IS her Father, and Knew It All Along....
Another one that I have chosen to stay away from is the saga of Anna Nicole Smith. The ridiculous coverage of the main stream media of ALL the celebrity stories of recent years fades in the amount that has gone on in this case.
The night I became the angriest, talking back to the TV (ask my children ... I have done it for years...) was the night that one of Howard Stern's attorneys DARED to say that ANNA did not want a DNA test done to determine paternity.
ANNA didn't want it? SHE has the right (even from the grave?) to prevent the baby from knowing her father? To prevent the father from knowing his child? NOOO, I don't think so. She may have the right to end the pregnancy by abortion before birth without his consent, but once that baby is born, both the father AND the child have rights that supercede her 'wishes' and 'wants'.
That child has a RIGHT to know her history, especially her medical history. She has a right to know both parents. Howard Stern was NOT her father.
Larry Birkhead IS. And he knew it all along.
As both an adoptive mother and a birth mother, as well as a civilly divorced mother... I have valid reasons for stating that she had no 'right' to deny him from BEING his child's father! Each of my daughters' birth fathers (or potential fathers) had to terminate parental rights, AND a legal notice had to be published for 'unknown father' in order to ensure that WE had the right to adopt them. If any of the men did not want to be involved, they would have had to prove that they were NOT the father. Each of them had the right to raise their daughter if that was their desire, though back then, they may have had a legal battle in order to be able to do so.
Larry Birkhead is the father. Now let's pray that he will become a good Daddy. I think, based on what I have seen and heard... he will.
As a Grandmother, I do feel for Anna Nicole Smith's mother. She has lost a daughter and a grandson. But fighting for custody against the proven father will not result in her getting custody. It COULD result in strained relationship that COULD prevent her from sharing the life of her grand daughter, if she is not careful!
Now... can we have less of this kind of coverage of 'the rich and the famous'? It really is NOT interesting to most people what Brittany, etc are up to....
God bless!
