Rivera Compared Hunting Accident to Chappaquiddick!!

Last night, I listened to Geraldo Rivera on O'Reilly comparing the Hunting Accident of Dick Cheney to the Chappaquiddick Episode of Ted Kennedy.

WHAT?? Not even close, Geraldo! Not even close!

Dick Cheney stood by his friend, got help for his friend, sent the Physician's Assistant that traveled with him WITH his friend to the hospital!

CHENEY: He was laying there on his back, obviously, bleeding. You could see where the shot had struck him. And one of the fortunate things was that I've always got a medical team that's covering me wherever I go, and I had a physician's assistant with me that day. Within a minute or two, he was on the scene, administering first aid.

snip~~

CHENEY: I had no idea how serious it was going to be. I mean, it could have been extraordinarily serious. You just don't know at that moment. You know he's been struck, you know that there's a lot of shot that hit him. But you don't know — you think about his eyes. Fortunately he was wearing hunting glasses that protected his eyes.

You just don't know. And the key thing as I say, initially, was that the physician's assistant was right there. We also had an ambulance at the ranch because one always follows me around wherever I go. And they were able to get the ambulance there. Within about 30 minutes, we had him on his way to the hospital.

HUME: And what did you do then? Did you get up and go with him or did you go to the hospital?

CHENEY: No, I had told my physician's assistant to go with him, but the ambulance was crowded and they didn't need another body in there. And, so we loaded up and went back to ranch headquarters, basically. That's about 7:00 at night and...

snip~~

CHENEY: From the hospital and so forth. Couple of people who'd been guests at the ranch went up to the hospital — I think one of them was a doctor. He obviously had some professional capabilities, in terms of being able to relay messages. But we really didn't know until Sunday morning that Harry was probably going to be okay, that it looked like there hadn't been any serious damage to any vital organ. And that's when we began the process of notifying the press.

The only thing he did NOT do is to call the White House Press Corps and give them the 'scoop'. He deferred that to the wife of his friend, who then had the right to tell others in her own words what had happened, as well as to be able to give correct medical information.

Ted Kennedy, on the other hand, was a married man in the car with a female who was NOT his wife, and went off the bridge into water apparently at a hight rate of speed.

He saved himself, left her, did NOT yell or get any help for her, and did not report it until much later ( 9 hours! ). He sent NO emergency services to aid her, and had no intention of doing so. In spite of the fact that there were houses on the road, not far from the bridge, he made NO attempt to rouse/wake the occupants of those homes to get help!

He went back and asked the first person he saw to get two attorneys who were also at the party, and even when the car was found, its owner identified, Mary Jo Kopechne found and removed... he STILL said nothing to those who asked him if he knew about it!

THAT is a cover-up, people!!

THAT is something to be suspicious of.

THAT is something worthy of this kind of media coverage.

AND that is something significant enough to suggest RESIGNING office over!

That they are even remotely similar in his mind BOGGLES mine!

What did he say was similar? There is NOTHING similar...they are polar opposites of each other (which you explained perfectly!)

Delay in reporting, secretiveness, etc. I was 'talking' to him (via the TV)...
don't think he heard me.

I'll check out the game. I don't watch the show at all, though...
