Posted on: Tuesday, February 22, 2005

On April 16 and 17, international pro-life leader Father Frank Pavone will bring his passion for the pro-life movement to Steubenville, where he will be a featured presenter at Franciscan University's two-day conference, "Catholic Moral Values and Public Policy."

Father Pavone will be joined by Dr. David Hess, chairman and professor of the Department of Neurology at the Medical College of Georgia; Liz Brown, licensed professional counselor; Chris Bell, founder and executive director of Good Counsel, an organization that provides homes for single mothers and babies; Joan Andrews Bell, pro-life activist; and Dr. Brian Scarnecchia, attorney and professor of legal studies at Franciscan University.

The conference team will give presentations on both the scientific and social aspects of the pro-life movement. Dr. Hess will explore stem cell research and human cloning, Brown will discuss the psychological effects of abortion, and Father Pavone will focus on public policy.

Father Pavone has been at the forefront of the public movement to reverse Roe. v. Wade for over 15 years. He is the director of Priests for Life and president of the National Pro-life Religious Council. His many TV and radio appearances include Catholic Family Radio, the Odyssey Network, Vatican Radio, and his series, Defending Life, on EWTN. He also makes regular trips to Capitol Hill, where his audiences have included the pro-life caucus of the House of Representatives.

The conference will be held from Saturday, April 16, at 9 a.m. to Sunday, April 17, at 10:30 a.m. on the Franciscan University campus. Registration for the full conference, which includes a eucharistic holy hour, lunch and evening banquet, and networking session, is $79. Registration for only Saturday's banquet and presentations by Father Pavone and Joan Andrews Bell is $40.
