Honor your father and your mother

Living with Dementia..

Mom will call me to the window MANY times a day to watch the antics of the birds, especially when there are feeders outside the window (the storm broke it, and it has not been replaced yet). She knows that they are birds, does not care what they are named. She just loves to watch, and count them, over and over and over. She does not remember that she JUST told me to come and see.

Many siblings just cannot handle seeing Mom like this. What they are doing, in reality, is protecting themselves. What they do not realize is that Mom, deep inside, knows that they do not come.

Sad.
