Who Painted It?

Two things struck me when I read this article...

  • This is our Secretary of State.
  • She was there once before.
Why did they strike me?

When a Secretary of State goes to visit another country, they should know something ABOUT that country, and in my estimation, if they are going to sight-see while IN that country... how much trouble is it to Google or Yahoo a search about what you are going to see before you get there??

OOOHHH, She had ALREADY BEEN THERE ONCE BEFORE....

Then explain to me her comment....

Msgr. Monroy took Mrs. Clinton to the famous image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which had been previously lowered from its usual altar for the occasion.

After observing it for a while, Mrs. Clinton asked “who painted it?” to which Msgr. Monroy responded “God!”

Clinton then told Msgr. Monroy that she had previously visited the old Basilica in 1979, when the new one was still under construction.

After placing a bouquet of white flowers by the image, Mrs. Clinton went to the quemador –the open air area at the Basilica where the faithful light candles- and lit a green candle.

Leaving the basilica half an hour later, Mrs. Clinton told some of the Mexicans gathered outside to greet her, “you have a marvelous virgin!”

She apparently did not learn the significance of the Tilma on her first trip there in 1979... and...

Someone had to have made sure that she had this bouquet of white flowers to place there. Whomever it was apparently did not help her to know what she was visiting, its significance this time, either?

Yet she also lit a candle...

This tells me that this was just for show....and interesting side trip for a photo op. Again, how hard would it have been to have googled for information BEFORE she got there?

I am praying that the Lady of Guadalupe continues to 'visit' with Secretary of State Clinton -- and amazes her just as she amazed the Bishop and others when the flowers fell from the Tilma of St Juan Diego.

Read the rest of the story here....

God bless!
