St Patrick's Day
Happy St Patrick's Day!
May your home always be a safe and warm refuge!
May your visitors feel welcome!
May He be honored there always, and always present!
May you have enough for you, and yours...
and always toss in a few extra potatoes for others who may come.
and always toss in a few extra potatoes for others who may come.
May you always be faithful to those you owe fidelity.
May God be with you and bless you,
may you see your children's children,
may you be poor in misfortunes and rich in blessing,
may you know nothing but happiness from this day forward.
may you see your children's children,
may you be poor in misfortunes and rich in blessing,
may you know nothing but happiness from this day forward.

It's sad that his memory is sullied with the wanton insobriety associated with the day. I once heard a media commentator refer to the parades as drunken jihads. Not too far wrong there I'm afraid. I can only dread the vomit laden paths tomorrow as I walk to work. 40 shades of green indeed.
Ah, but those who know sobriety can, thankfully, pray for those who do not know the joy of serving Him, knowing Him. We have a choice as Catholics, as to how to celebrate today. As drunks who will not remember tomorrow what we did today, or as Catholics, even by attending Mass.
Ven Matt Talbot spent the first 28 yrs of his life as one who was drunk more than sober. He spent the remainder of his life sober, and quietly serving the Lord. His prayer is at the end of my post.
In this world, there will never be perfection. But we do have a choice:
Choose this day Whom you will serve... but as for me and my house, I will serve the Lord.
As for being "drunken jihads"--I cannot even begin to agree when I know the meaning of jihad historically.
God bless!
