Burying our Heads in Sand...Let's "Dialogue" ....
Tonight I was listening to LIFE ON THE ROCK on EWTN. The guest on the program was Immaculée Ilibagiza who is a survivor of the Rwandan Holocaust. The program, I believe, will air again on Sunday at 10:00 PM, but can also be viewed online (or at least heard) in the EWTN Life on the Rock archives at some point.
Immaculée at one point spoke of how she just could not believe that people could do the things that were happening in her country, or that it ever COULD happen in her country. It was difficult at times to catch exactly what she was saying, because I am unaccustomed to her rapid speech and accent. I intend to listen again on Sunday, to try to catch it all again. And I am going to get her book as soon as I can afford it.
Just as she could not believe what was happening, there are many today living in a dream world about what is happening in the world. Just as the Jews and others in Europe in the thirties and forties could not believe what was happening, so too, today, many just do not see it coming again. Just as MANY back then placated Hitler, cajoled, pleaded, bargained, appeased.... so too, today, many are doing it again...
Immaculée's story may not SEEM to be related, but it is the same Evil presence that manifests itself .
That same complacency, that same ignoring of 'signs'... even blatant statements made by those in power (and not in power) allows it to rear its ugly head.
I ask you...
People truly still believe that we can "dialogue" with those who think this way?? TRULY?
"Nazis Resolved Great European Problem'
Hashemi Rafsanjani in a sermon said Hitler wanted to rid Europe of Jews because they were a 'pain in the neck.'
Hashemi Rafsanjani: Hitler Wanted to Expel Jews Because 'They Were a Pain in the Neck'
Thursday, October 11, 2007
Hashemi Rafsanjani, former Iranian president and current Chairman of the Assembly of Experts, said Friday that Hitler's treatment of Jewish people in Europe was due in part to their being "a pain in the neck."
Rafsanjani's comments came during a sermon for "International Jerusalem Day" on Iranian TV.

Rafsanjani noted that Jews caused problems for European governments because they "had a lot of property" and "controlled an empire of propaganda." He also said that the Nazis were successful in saving Europe from the evil of Zionism.
The former Iranian leader served as president from 1989 to 1997, and was succeeded by Mohammad Khatami. Rafsanjani ran for a third term in office in 2005, but lost to current President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
