Allen West Nation - A Lasting Impression

Many times over many decades, leaders of foreign nations have addressed a joint session of the United States Congress. In most cases, such events have been soft sell, low key, mostly unimpactful experiences.

This time…it was different.

This time, it was Netanyahu.

In the wake of a widely criticized speech by President Obama just days earlier, within hours of the arrival of Netanyahu as Obama’s guest, the Prime Minister of Israel delivered an address, not to our congress but to the world.

To say the Prime Minister was warmly received would be an understatement as he was interrupted no less than 55 times by applause and standing ovations and yes, by a lone voice of dissent, which Netanyahu quickly responded to in a most gracious and dare I say, American values sort of way. The Prime Minister remarked how wonderful it was, whether in this country or his, such voices in protest were allowed due to the freedoms we both enjoy.

Bravo.
