Pray for Fr Francis Mary

Life on the Rock from EWTN had a letter from Fr Francis Mary tonight.

He is away, discerning his vocation. This is a shock, it is sad, but it is not the end. We need to keep him in prayer.

God bless!

It appears that he's been scrubbed from the EWTN web site. The audio archives for Life on the Rock now end in 2002 (with the previous host). The latest MP3 for LOTR isn't there. At least one old press release describing him and his role on the show is gone too.

Yes, I saw that last night, also. I did not want to go into any of the details last night.

We need to pray for his vows, for his ministry, for his priesthood, and for the widow and her family.

The program announcing this DID air an hour late last night. It is scheduled to be aired again later today (I think, 1PM Eastern, 12 Noon Central).

I did transcribe his letter today when I listened to the playback.

Are you saying Thurs. night's live show was on an hour late?

Also it seems anyone who says something about Fr. Francis is being accused of judging. I guess EWTN is judging him too since they took him off the web and all the tv openings and clips.

The program aired when "Parable" was scheduled to be aired d/t a Mass still being aired at the time when Life on the Rock was scheduled to be aired here. That was an hour later than listed to be aired here.

What I wrote, to me, seems clear, however, perhaps I could have been more specific.

As for the statement that "anyone who says something about Fr. Francis is being accused of judging."

I have accused no one of any judging in any of my responses. I have stated and will continue to state that I will NOT be party to any speculation of what may have gone on, nor to any gossip -- either here or in my personal life.

This is for TWO reasons:
One--There is no way for any of us to know the facts vs the gossip. I have been in situations where I have been the object of false gossip, and I have, in the past, unknowingly SPREAD false gossip as fact.
It is Sin, known as Detraction
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/04757a.htm or Calumny
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/03190c.htm

Two--There is no way to verify any of the speculation/gossip that is out there.

The potential loss of a Priest for any reason is sad. When it involves walking away from one's Vows, and from the Sacrament of Holy Orders, it is a situation that needs PRAYER, not gossip. What possible difference can it make to any of us WHY he is discerning breaking his vows?

As for EWTN 'judging' him... His order has the ultimate 'authority' over him, as he is vowed to Obedience. EWTN is his employer. They both have a responsibility to all involved, meaning Fr FM, the others in the Community (Order), the network family, the Viewers, and to the woman and her family.

Scandal, or the possibility of Scandal is a very serious thing.

As his Superiors, his Order has the right to remove him from a situation. As Employers, it is also within their right to act.

Today, we think that anyone who brings attention of another's actions that can be or ARE sinful is 'judging' the person.

Not so.
It is judging the actions of a person, and we are ALL called to this under the Spiritual Acts of Mercy (namely, admonishing the sinner).

WE, as viewers and observers, do not have the information needed to make the determination necessary about the situation. WE, as viewers and observers can only speculate about the events (leading to gossip).

Those WITH him do have the facts. They have, apparently, done what is necessary to try to help him, and the widow he has grown close to.

There has been, and will not be, any 'judging' here, other than stating that I am NOT going to be part of any speculation and gossip.

Thank you for stopping in!

God bless!

Let's remember in our praying for Francis that God's plan may be for him to mlove into a new way of life! I think this news, while sad for some, is a great tribute to the man himself, who has had the courage to face his own demons. How much that courage is lacking in so many others.

"So when you make a promise (or a VOW) to God, don't delay in following through, for God takes no pleasure in fools. Keep all
the promises you make to him. It is better to say nothing than to promise something that you don't follow through on. In such cases, your mouth is making you sin. And don't defend yourself by telling the Temple messenger that the
promise you made was a mistake. That would make God angry, and he might wipe out everything you have achieved."
~~ Ecclesiastes 5:4-6 New Living Translation

Matthew 5:37 Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

God's Will is that we keep our Vows. Man's will finds ways to get around doing this. It is called Justification, Rationalization. And it can also be called Sin.

God bless!

I had intended to also quote Archbishop Fulton J Sheen, but forgot to do so...

"Right is right, even if no one is right.
Wrong is wrong, even if everyone is wrong."
