Divorce Exception

Most people who know me or have read my posts on many yahoo websites (marlyn_25) over the years KNOW that I oppose no fault unilateral forced divorce.

But there are always exceptions even in our Catholic Faith about this, and one case that is blatantly in that category is the 'marriage' of Terri Schiavo, where her very life is in danger from the man who promised to love honor and cherish her til death parted them.

Those vows did not mean til he found a legal way to murder/kill her.

Those vows did not mean until one of them became brain-damaged and would require nursing help for the rest of her days.

Those vows did not mean that when he 'became lonely' or... whatever word you may want to insert, that he could then begin to 'date', or 'sleep with' another woman.

Those vows were taken for good times AND in bad, in sickness and in health, for better or for worse... until God called one of them Home.

Michael Schiavo has broken his vows by having affairs, the last has been going on for ten years and producing two children...and she is called by him, his fiancee.

Sorry, no one married is EVER entitled to a fiancee. Ever.

This case, where her very life is at stake is covered in the Catechism and in Canon Law as being one reason that divorce MAY take place, when one's very life is in danger.

But even there, the 'state' has this covered....by not allowing anyone to petition for divorce FOR her other than her guardian. Michael Schiavo is her guardian. There is no protection for Terri any place on this earth.

If Terri were not where Terri is... and HE wanted a divorce...he would have NO problem using unilateral no-fault divorce to FORCE her to become a divorced woman... so why not now? He certainly cannot maintain his faithfulness as proof of his 'caring' for Terri.

I would respect him (just a tad) if he were honest and said he just wants her dead.
